Cricket

There is a fine line between aggression and stupidity and this batting is definitely falling under the stupidity category.

You can't swing across the line against a good bowler like Boult when he is swinging the ball in sharply. You have to earn the right to play your shots by seeing off the new ball. The top 3 all being bowled, and two of them with big drives isn't going to work the long run.

I have to apologise to everyone on here: I was on holiday for the first two tests = England win.
I'm back = England collapse.

Having said that it was great bowling by Boult and Southee's ball to Root was a beauty.

Crawley looks too loose to me to be a long-term test opener, although his confidence must be low at the moment.

Pope at three? Hundred in the last game so I presume he played well on what seems to have been a friendly pitch. I like him though so hope he can churn out some consistent scores.

…as a kid, I still have an image of Clive Lloyd moving so smoothly at pace, picking up a ball and throwing it into the wicketkeeper at Aigburth. It was just so graceful & has stuck with me to this day.

Amazing how certain things stick in your mind.
Clive was a wonderful cover fielder before his knees went. Like you say, he was graceful. Good medium pace bowler too.

You nailed it there Tim.

On the theme of the cataclysmic effect i have on any sports team I follow - I was listening to the test right up to 55-6 when I went out to wickes with the missus to look at kitchens for half an hour / four years. I come back, having not listened and we've made an amazing recovery.

Teams should pay me to ignore them.

Those on here that wrote bairstow off should hang their heads in shame. All good players go through baron spells but his quality has shown through. Love watching him bat, and if he gets out for single figures playing an aggressive shot then so be it. Modern rest cricket isn't 2 runs an over any more.
