Yeah Hameed was primarily responsible for England going nowhere fast in the morning session. He got stuck in Dom Sibley mode and it was hard to see where his next run was coming from.

26 dot balls in succession before Jadeja put us all out of our misery by bowling him out..
Yes that's the Hameed we saw at Lancs in his time there. As I said in an earlier post, he needs to learn how to rotate the strike as all the best openers do. Joe Root is also a master of that, amongst other things - no-one better to learn from.

I think they will bat to 500 if they can.

Day 2, have them in the field for as long as possible. Might affect them for the rest of the series, as well.

No need to be aggressive with any declaration.

I can understand building up a huge total but if our bowlers don't do well tomorrow then it's a long hard slog for England in the field. I always prefer giving an hour or so in the evening as the bowlers can go 100%, get a rest overnight and go again in the morning full pelt. The nerves of not losing a weekend before the morning always seems to do the trick too.

With a lead of 330 India would have to post a near 500 total to make it a bit challenging for England. I rather play aggressive than wait it out.

Either way though England win - as long as they don't hit a freak patch of weather that blows in.

Nick Speak was a very decent middle-order player for Lancs and, I think, Durham where he was captain.

1992 was his golden year when he scored around 1900 runs in the championship and about 2800 in all competitions.
I may have posted this before. Does anyone remember Barry Wood? Opening bat for Lancashire and had a few games for England. He was a Yorkshire lad and I played football with him when we played for Ossett Town in the Yorkshire League. He was an Ossett lad. I was centre-half and he was right-half. He was a good footballer too.

Yeah I loved Barry Wood. Boycott was his batting hero, but Wood was a great one day player, winning loads of man of the match awards, because he was a decent medium pace bowler, hard to score off. Good fielder too.

Left Lancs under a cloud when he signed for Derbyshire immediately after what was a record breaking benefit year.

Used to see him at Old Trafford watching his son. Nathan, play.

Still don't remember him. lol I was watching some other Lancashire matches earlier on YouTube, we won them all as they were posted by the club lol Anyway, a lot of them featured Ian Austin and it got me thinking how underrated he was.

Yeah 'Bully' was a great one day player. He played a few one day internationals I think, but not as many as he should have.

This all has a slightly deja vu feeling about it for India. These two sides are virtually repeating the pattern of what happened seven years ago in England.

In 2014, India dominated a drawn first Test and stormed to a thumping Lord’s win in the second. They were a team full of belief, of confidence. By contrast England’s team, and captaincy, were in disarray. The heist was on. Before England duly stormed to victory in the third Test, then the next and then the fifth one too. The end result: 3-1 England.
