I think Rashid the only one to come out of that with any credit, I really am struggling to see any of this side besides the obvious candidates..skipper Eoin Morgan, Bairstow, Rashid and probably Jordan (who has been injured and struggled) definitely making the first XI, which opens up another spinners spot in India. Ali is seriously struggling may even go without a second spinner if noone suitable.
Didn't think Rashid bowled at all well Chris - a mixture of long hops and full tosses from what I saw; but then again they are often the balls that get wickets in T20.

Morgan is such a clean hitter of the ball.

As with the Test matches, the unsung hero of the game was the Old Trafford groundsman for producing a perfect T20 pitch. I suspect whichever team batted second would have chased down the target!

Michael Vaughan suffers from a serious case of verbal diarrhoea.

They realised a few years ago that its a different game to tests. Ergo, need different players.

There is some random English bowler, who couldnt last a day, let alone 5 in a test match, but earns millions cos he can bowl 5 very very cheap overs in 20 20, all over the planet.
Might be Tymal Mills, was a 90mph guy as well but with a broken body

I know what you mean tbf. T20 can be so unfair, often the good stuff goes for six. I suppose when you know it's giving little to the bowler and the batsmen has to go for it of every ball, the old liqourice all sorts mixture of good and rubbish works as well as anything else, the end result of 2-32 was decent anyway.

The bowlers need to seriously work on getting their lengths right although after England's reply it was both sides bowlers who looked as if they'd rather be somewhere else today lol

Good to see Dawid Malan putting his name forward and tbf in the limited opportunities he's had he's generally performed extremely well.

He's a notoriously slow starter in this format and possibly only really suited to an anchor role, he needs a Morgan at the other end or the scoreboard gets badly stuck. Once he gets going he's explosive, it's whether that's what England require when other options for the anchor role, notably Joe Root, become available for selection. Root is also a quicker starter.

I think Malan will not be needed unfortunately, as you say if they need such a player Root- with his off spinners will get the nod.

They obviously want Buttler, Roy, Bairstow, Stokes, Morgan to be a top 5 and 1 other. Maybe Root although from the bits I've seen of him I really like Tom Banton, he would be my 6th batsman. It's mad that a player of Roots quality, never mind Malans could be left out.

The England side, over the last 3-4 years in one day cricket have almost become Australiaeqsue in terms of how they were in test cricket 15 years or so ago. They had a first 11 with 5 or 6 world class players who'd get into any team and could win a game on their own. You then also have lads who come in as 2nd choice (such as Malan, Banton to a degree Root) who would also get into most teams and would be a solid player for them. I remember Australia were like that, you'd see ladslike Mcgill, or Bichel or say Darren Lehman with the bat who would probably have got 100 tests were they English.

You just expect England to win really, it' a great squad with amazing depth. Even missing key players, you still have Bairstow/Morgan who are world class, and the rest of the line up are very solid.
