Close of play at sunny Headingley: Lancs 195-5 in reply to 260. Croft and Balderson comfortably saw out the last few overs after Lancs lost two wickets in two balls. First Vilas was lbw to Olivier, a reward for the South African bowler finally pitching 6 consecutive balls up, Vilas possibly expecting a short ball was plumb lbw for 41. Next ball, Rob Jones, who always makes batting look difficult, played the worst shot of the day, a wild swish at a wide outswinger from Hill to be caught behind for 21.

Honours about even - dreadful forecast tomorrow.

It's not just the weather but the wicket that's the problem, an underprepared wicket as this is, thanks to the awful weather they had trying to prepare it, can unfortunately just lose any life, going slow and flat - it gives a little help with the new ball still but all the demons in it have disappeared along time ago.

No Play in any games so far. Roses match already abandoned.

Lancs getting some criticism for not pushing on to reach 200 before the close last night and earning an extra bonus point. I suspect they knew their chances of qualifying had already gone as there was no chance of winning this game due to the weather, so the priority became not to lose another wicket and thus depriving Yorkshire of an extra bowling point, which could be important in their tussle with Derbyshire to top the table.

Quite right too!

Saying it'll take 4-5 hours after it stops raining for a chance of play, just call it off.

There's only ever been one result possible with just a little over three days play in the whole five days, and that's an improvent on the last one, but Jimmy would want a chance to take his 600th.

Inspection now, it'll be called off if there's no chance of it drying but there's a lot of wind and hasn't rained for a time, so they may not give up yet.
