Cricket

I'm not defending the players responsible for this, although there seems to be varying degrees of culpability. However, I think the
reaction here in Australia has been amazingly over the top. I mean, it's not as though cricketers haven't been caught ball tampering before.
The only difference has been the utter stupidity of this latest episode of it. Don't they know how many cameras are focussed on them?

Personally, I've been far more pissed off over the years with the sledging from Aussies. I don't think it went on when Benaud, Simpson and Lawry
captained Australia. No, that crap started with Ian Chappell with his cohorts Rod Marsh, Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thompson and it's never really
gone away. The Australian public in numbers haven't expressed any outrage about that and many have said it's all part of the game. Well, not for me.

Finally, I'll say I was sick to my stomach watching the footage of Steve Smith being led through the airport in South Africa by security like a
bloody criminal. Have another look at what's happening in the world and tell how this can be justified.

Im not sure they do to be honest , it’s not match fixing although I can see some could argue it’s not far of it.

Like many things the attempted cover up almost feels dirtier than the actual offence . I can certainly see a way back for smith and Bancroft , like I’ve seen pundits say though I actually don’t care what happens to warner and certainly wouldn’t shed a tear if that was it for him.
Maybe they dont deserve their careers ending but I hope that's the case, Can't stand Smith as bad as Warner for me arrogant & nasty

It was his idea apprently, still wrong for smith to allow it. Snmith younger than warner i think? Warner seems disliked by everyone even before this incident.

Feel sorry for smith. Fair play for fronting up to the media like that, which is more than what warner did. Mrs had it right when she walked in and saw the press conference ‘you’d think he’s killed someone’
They'd all be jumping for joy had they not been caught and won the test. No sympathy at all for Smith. He's a great batsman but a clueless captain as this goes to show. Warners the crook but they're all as bad as each other and deserve the bans completely. I really doubt this is the first time they've done it too.

The way it's playing out in the media is overkill imo. Cheatings part and parcel of every competitive sport, it's the nature of the beast and happens in everything. It's not right like but yeah they took a piece of sandpaper to a red ball. It's nothing really in the grand scheme of things.

like i said on the page before, this shouldn't be people's viewpoint. I want the best sportsmen/women and teams to be the winners, i don't want the biggest cheats to be the winners. Think of how much trophies the RS have won in the last 20 years, i'm pretty sure all of them have been achieved with some form of cheating along the way. That's not what winning should be about, that's not what sport is about.

I've totally lost my love for football, all because of how stupid and out of hand it's gotten with everyone trying to outcheat each other. There's very little actual football played.

I have to commend cricket australia for the punishment dished out, they could easily have just said, right ICC have punished you, we won't go any further and have their three players available for selection in two games time. Can you imagine a football club banning their captain for a year when the FA have banned him just for a game? No way, they don't care how 'tarnished' their club would be, the bitter reds didn't care about suarez, they were happy for their club to be utterly shamed.

In no way at all am I a fan of the Australian cricket team but I feel the punishments are pretty severe compared to what I thought they would get (still deserved though). It seems to be slightly more premeditated and organized cheating than Atherton, Du Plessis, Afridi biting the ball etc, but it's still the same thing really and they got next to nothing.

Think this is a backlash against Australian cricket in general. Everyone despises them because over the last few years (with the odd exception) they have been a team of arrogant, nasty, hypocritical sooks so now they have been exposed as cheats too, the cricketing world is letting it be known they have had enough of them and Cricket Australia has had their hand forced a bit by this collective outrage.

Now that Warner has seemingly been ostracised from the team, be interesting to see if he lets it be known how far it actually goes.

With Warner banned from playing anything other than club cricket in Australia and now having plenty of time on his hands, I wonder if we'll see him over here having another stint in our domestic T20 competition? I certainly hope not.

Hahahahahha. Look at poor little Stevie crying his pissy little eyes out. Great stuff.

Well guess WHAT Mr. Smith, YOU brought this on yourself DIDN’T YOU?????? So you only have YOURSELF to blame!!!! Don’t you????

Was waaa waaa I got caught and I’m sorry. Well I’m sorry mate, but you should never be allowed to even PICK UP a cricket ball in a professional environment EVER AGAIN !!!!!

Nuff said. Simples.
