Cricket

As a coach if you’re going to say this about an opposition player :

"From my point of view I just hope the Australian public give it to him right from the word go for the whole summer and I hope he cries and he goes home.”

Then frankly it’s rank hypocrisy to be part of this :

Cricket Australia sent a letter of complaint to their South African counterparts on Friday over what coach Darren Lehmann called "disgraceful" verbal abuse aimed at his players by the crowd in the third test at Newlands.

Worse than hypocrisy it’s actually pathetic.
I don't disagree, i just have the same feelings towards stuart broad as everyone does to david warner.

It is but there is a reason many can see a way back for smith , for warner let’s be fair it’s not exactly the fellas first brush with authority .

the fact that Smith was the Australian poster boy and captain of the Nation basically, he wont be forgiven for dragging the whole country thro the mud. just cant see it.

its one thing the Aussies take REAL serious is sport!

Again mate I don’t argue with that and you’re absolutely entitled to it . I’ve got my own Thoughts on him dating back, amongst other things , to KP but it’s the crying about something your guilty of yourself, like warner when he pontificated about cheating that’s basically sickening .

This latest statement from Cricket Australia smacks of a damage limitation exercise!

Questions should continue to be asked (but probably won’t be!) on at least three points.

Are we seriously expected to believe Lehman knew nothing about this?
None of the bowlers knew what was going on - really?
How long has this been going on? Warner supposedly admitted to England players after the end of the Ashes that they had tampered with the ball at times. The South Africans knew something wasn’t right with the ball very early on and asked specifically for the tv cameras to focus on “treatment” of the ball!

As for Smith and Warner taking legal advice over their bans, well good luck with that, I suspect a year will be at least a year, thereafter it’ll come down to - “if selected” - which I hope Warner never is again!

They're idiots that deserve their punishment but (and i understand this will not be agreed with on here) they don't deserve to have their careers ended over it.

Im not sure they do to be honest , it’s not match fixing although I can see some could argue it’s not far of it.

Like many things the attempted cover up almost feels dirtier than the actual offence . I can certainly see a way back for smith and Bancroft , like I’ve seen pundits say though I actually don’t care what happens to warner and certainly wouldn’t shed a tear if that was it for him.

Lehmanns the one in my eyes that's probably come out of this looking the worst.

Warner is a scumbag, a truly horrible man that no cricket reputable organisation or tram should associate with, least not until he makes A LOT of apologies and changes his ways (which I don't see). He mocked Jonathon Trott for having depression which affected his game and caused him to have to leave a tour. He used Jonny Bairstow's father dying as something to sledge him with. He swears his head at players on the field and then has the gall to lose his rag because that South African snapped and said something back to him.

I couldn't be happier the man's career and reputation is in ruins and he'll forever be viewed as a pariah even in his homeland.

should of thought about that before cheating tho???

the biggest thing here is that Cricket is like religion in Australia..

they are never going to have a cheat playing for them again.

honestly cant see smith or warner playing for Australia again.

the outcry from the Australian public and former players will not allow it.

everytime Smith and Warner play now,, it will be all about them and cheating and not about the game at hand

Smith will play again. He’s CA’s Golden Boy. He’ll be back for the Ashes next summer and will deservedly get every bit of stick possible.

Warner won’t. He was already unlikable as could be before this and now he’s gone that one step beyond.

nope. the Aussies will uncover another batsmen and Smith the cheat will be left out.

its game over.

I guess I'm looking at it from seeing blokes in other sports viciously bash people in brawls (at pubs etc) and often serving jail time for it be back on the field as soon as the punishments finished. They're the type of people I'd prefer to see never have the privilege of playing professional sport again.

Just want to stress again that i am not sticking up for smith and co if that's how it looks.
