It should have been called Wuhan Flu, for that is where it originated, and tough crap if they don’t like it. Chinese authorities are furiously trying to get the message out that it‘s Italy that’s to blame. The Chinese government are to blame for this and should be told at every opportunity.....

No I don’t, as no one really knows where it originated. But we do know where this one started, even though the Chinese are doing their level best to blame Italy.....

We know where it was first identified.

Nobody actually knows where Covid-19 started. Very likely, though not 100% definitely, from bats - and the specific time and location of the leap from animal to human is unknown and pretty much impossible to trace. The true Patient Zero will most likely never be known.

We can worry about that when the time comes. I didn't know about the markets in China and they look awful so banning them on animal rights grounds is fine with me. But I don't like the idea of blaming a pandemic like this on anyone when this is a freak thing at the end of the day.

It's not a freak thing though, is it? It's the third SARS outbreak, all of which have come from, Chi-na.

It's why Hong Kong and Singapore are coping relatively well. They are well prepared from previous experience.

I just think if it started in any country, literally any single one, they'd have handled it the same to start. I mean do you seriously think the UK or US would have instantly locked up the people who got it in quarantine? It would never have happened.

I've no idea mate - but this one happened in China (as numerous other ones in recent times have) and they also have a pretty horrendous history when it comes to live animal treatment/food preparation (Which it seems this has come from)

I reckon if a similar thing had originated in the UK we'd be getting bummed all over the place by the rest of the world
