It’s not and it’s deplorable. But so is ignoring the fact of it’s origination and why it was even allowed to originate....
Calling it coronavirus or Covid 19 doesn't say anything about where it originated mate. We all know it was China still. But it doesn't make it sound like we are blaming China every time we talk about it to the point of racial animosity. If you can't see that I'm afraid you're lost.

So what. This has nothing to do with what they did. You falsely claimed it should be called the wuhan virus or named after China in some way.

I was merely pointing out how wrong you are.

No one has ever done that nor should they. Normally it gets the nickname based on the animal or sympton before it gets a scientific name. But calling it after a people or place it shouldn't be.

The WHO doing nothing in your eyes does not legitimize how wrong you are.

So what. Because the WHO did sod all and tried to play this down for fear of upsetting China, the world is going into lockdown and tens of thousands are dying....but don’t upset the Chinese ....

you said it’s never happened in history....Spanish Flu, HK flu, Mers....the list goes on.....

Idiot which is why they want discourage that. You called it Wuhan. They don't want you too simple as that really.

Officially speaking none off those you mentioned were the actual names. People like you called them that.

You said it should be named after the place it came from which it shouldn't. The whole point is to discourage that behaviour.

So they are given official names. Go look all of those you mentioned. They all have names. Its more convenient for idiots like you and the gutter press to use nicknames though isnt it

Stop digging.

I have no problem with calling it Coronavirus, it’s all I’ve called it throughout, but this attempt at eliminating Chinese responsibility for its introduction helps no one......

I don't care if it upsets the chinese. That was never the point I made.

You said they name it after the origin. They don't. End off.

It helps everyday Asians living in places where they are minorities. It helps them a lot.

It is no different than if after 9/11 people tried to put more blame on Muslims. There are already enough people who will be hateful. We don't have to fan the flames.

I fully appreciate your concern for the Chinese population, and I would abhor anyone abusing a Chinese person in the U.K. or anywhere else over this. But by seeking to protect them you actually damage the rightful condemnation of the Chinese State.....

I said, they should name it after the origin...End of....
Right and you would be wrong for the many reasons people have pointed out.

Giving it a name to point fingers is exactly the thing that needs to be discouraged. Hence the article.

History will still say it originated there.

Do you think "Spanish Flu" was a fitting name? And do you think the countries such as the UK were open and honest about it's spread and effects?

Just because something happened in the past it doesn't mean it's a good way of doing it going forward.

Covid-19 is a naturally occurring respiratory disease and where it was first identified is down to chance. Which countries do you think would have acted with openness and honesty? Even months later countries and organisations all over the world were and are ignoring or downplaying the science if it's not in compatible with economic interests.

That's an easy trade off for me. The Chinese state doesn't care what it is called. If we are holding them responsible, and I'm not saying we should, it would be through sanctions and the like. The name means an infinitesimally small amount to the government.

No I don’t, as no one really knows where it originated. But we do know where this one started, even though the Chinese are doing their level best to blame Italy.....

Because by blaming the Chinese, whether they deserve it or not, you are indirectly blaming Chinese people at large and that has led to a rise in racial incidents directed at Asian people.

Sometimes things happen. It doesn't need to come to blaming someone when it leads to trouble for a lot of folks who aren't involved. And calling it the China Virus is blaming people full stop.

Perhaps we should blame the animals involved in the Chinese wet markets?

Of course, it's unfair and unreasonable to lazily blame people on mass. However, how animals are treated in parts of Asia is quite simply barbaric. I've witnessed it first hand, several times.

As Gandhi said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

Things aren't going to change unless their societies come under some serious pressure to do so. That pressure and abuse needs to be directed to the right people though. Targeting random individuals is clearly wrong.

We can worry about that when the time comes. I didn't know about the markets in China and they look awful so banning them on animal rights grounds is fine with me. But I don't like the idea of blaming a pandemic like this on anyone when this is a freak thing at the end of the day.
