There's a famous film, and at the end the line goes "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist" well, the nasty party have tried something similar, they have bombarded the public with so much nothingness and boredom that great swathes of the populace they make decisions for have tuned em out. That's why ethel and vera get a say at their advanced years, because they've got nothing better to bother with and so the politicians pander to them re brown skinned foreigners and deh criminal yoof. I'm tired of this never ending fiasco as well, because as far away as we get from thatcher and her enablers, it's never far enough.
Are people really bothered by brown skinned foreigners? I honestly think that is a minority and judging by the marches it is more prevalent amongst the youth (perhaps the rest are catching up on their zimmers). Yes, in Walton there has been a marked increase in “foreigners” over the last 5 years or so. Sorry, can’t help but notice because North Liverpool has been largely bereft of anything other than “white trash” as the saying goes. Still good people though and not seen any trouble with the boys and girls joining us. Hope we become the complete melting pot

"Thatcher and her enablers"

That continue to this day in mainstream politics. That's why I have no confidence in a party under Starmer doing anything other than continuing the present trend.
Starmer is establishment, he'll do nothing to change the system in which his type are doing very nicely thank you.
Until there is a change from the economics of Hayek and Friedman there will be no respite in the rush toward more of the the new world order.
Hayek economics is the fast track for it.

I am convinced some/many brands are making a LOT off extra cash in this. Profiteering.

Heinz baked beans. 80p (down from £1 !)
Sainsburys own brand. 21p.

Heinz ketchup. £3.80
Tesco own brand. £1.00

Cant tell the difference. But there is no way that the fundamental ingredients are 4 times higher for Heinz than whoever makes the own brands. (could well be them anyrate).

The branded stuff was always higher, obvs, but not 4 times higher.

TBF there is at least something to be said for someone competently running a bad system, which Starmer might offer (and Sunak).

I have my doubts though, the people he's surrounded himself with are largely idiots who seem to have forgotten that it is possible to win elections by having decent arguments, in favour of just rigging them and excluding candidates from anyone else's faction (which apparently is fashionable now).

They won't even learn when it blows up in their faces once again, as it absolutely will if Corbyn stands again.

No! No! No!

Profiteering is taking advantage of vulnerable, desperate people, selling essential products, in times of crisis!

Nobody is forced to buy branded products, when own-branded products are still cheaper and easily accessible.

Yea they are, a fair few supermarkets have stopped selling certain brands because of this.

I think Tesco stopped selling heinz for a bit last year

You have noticed this bunch 13 years on are blaming blair and Brown still? Remember that 'no money' thing? When Labour left the debt was circa 850 Million, it's now over 2.4 Trillion. Remember austerity? fixing the roof whilst the sun shines? the broadest shoulders in society carrying the greatest burden? oven ready brexit? hostile environment? partying whilst their monarch mourned solo at her husbands funeral?
There's quite a lot to answer for, and I hope that social care and the nhs will be there for you (and me) in ten years time, because much more of these and there'll be benefit concerts in Sri Lanka and Eritrea for the impoverished masses of the UK.

It's noteworthy that you know what debt is, but fail to mention what a deficit is. It was Labour, is the 2000's, that turned a budget surplus into a deficit. National debt is an accumulation of a financial deficit.
