Correcting spelling/grammar on the Internet

It has long been something that annoys me greatly watching this endlessly occurring on countless threads.

If it was out of a personal quest to help others I might be more amenable but it is almost without exception used to break rhythm in discussion and to demean someone's argument by passively aggressively belittling then.

If you were at a dinner party and someone continously kept correcting everyones conversational grammar then you would quite rightly think them to be a loathsome social cripple who should be cast into the gutter without pudding.

Anyone who is engaged in this practice should be treated with extreme suspicion and has undoubtedly, if male, never put their willy in a woman.
Needs some commas.

....spelling errors or bad grammar in forums such as this really don’t matter. All that matters is that you can understand what the poster is saying.

i think it’s ignorant to highlight such mistakes. We really don’t know if posters have health or educational problems. I’m a retired Civil Servant with over 40 years experience of writing business cases and ministerial reports, but I get things wrong and I wouldn’t dream of correcting somebody on here.

It does bug me, but more on news websites and articles, becuse they are supposed to be professional. I think I associate poor spelling with poor eduction or lack of intellect. I have decided its a losing battle on forums or social media the people who do it either don't care or think they are right.

And how many times did you check your grammar then before pressing the post button? :)

I have a degree in Communications, but even I don't really care about grammar on social media or text messages, etc.

It only bothers me when news agencies or businesses use bad grammar.
