"It's inhumane the way they treat animals in China. I mean yeah I know we kill animals and eat them but at least we're nice to them before we do it"

Not much of a moral hill to die on imo.
My brother was eating in an outdoor restaurant in China a few years ago, when a man strolled in, sat at the next table and proceeded to skin a bucket of live frogs. Imagine the noise ffs!

One piece of advice my sister received when she went to work in Shanghai was to order sea caught fish and not river fish, for obvious reasons.

A motorsport chief has revealed he suggested that his Red Bull team’s drivers should try to become infected with coronavirus as it is the “ideal time” with the season on hold.

The start of the 2020 F1 season has been decimated by the global pandemic, with the opening six races of the year either cancelled or postponed. As things stand, the first grand prix of a truncated season will be in Canada on 14 June but that will almost certainly change in the coming days.

Red Bull’s Helmut Marko told Austrian television station ORF that he came up with a plan in which his driver pairing Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon – as well as the AlphaTauri duo Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat – contract Covid-19 in an attempt to have them fit and healthy when the season finally begins.

“We have four Formula One drivers and eight or 10 juniors,” he said.

“The idea was to organise a camp where we could bridge this mentally and physically somewhat dead time and that would be the ideal time for the infection to come.

Herding the bulls.

People have been staying off because they're not going to risk passing anything onto their own families because of lack of PPE.

Neil Ferguson said yesterday 'hospital admissions were down'. No wonder ambulance staff are depleted.

"Paramedics’ lack of access to protective gear during the coronavirus pandemic may lead to a staffing crisis, a union has warned.
GMB said its ambulance members had reported that they were not being given personal protective equipment (PPE), even when being sent to treat patients suspected of having Covid-19.
It added that when paramedics were able to access protective equipment, it was often out-of-date masks with stickers over the expiry dates.
The union’s national officer, Rachel Harrison, said:
The lack of protective equipment for our frontline workers is nothing short of a national crisis and it’s going to bring services to the brink.
“Some will have the virus after working without proper protective gear, others might just have a cold and could be at work but without testing there is no way to know - it’s creating a capacity issue and putting more people at risk.”
Research from GMB also suggested that 4,100 ambulance workers have already self-isolated across eight NHS trusts.

Shaun Bailey spoke after more pictures emerged of commuters pouring off a packed Tube during this morning's rush hour at North Acton.
Coronavirus is serious. It's literally life and death and it looks like the Tube is the most dangerous place to be.
I was really worried for these people.
We shouldn't be forcing people to take this life and death decision just to get to work.
– SHAUN BAILEY, CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE IN THE POSTPONED MAYORAL ELECTION
London's mayor Sadiq Khan has repeatedly delivered a strong message telling people to avoid the transport network. Mr Khan said "everyone must now stay home" apart from:
  • Shopping for necessities as infrequently as possible
  • Exercising once a day
  • Medical need
  • Travelling to work only if you work in a critical industry like the NHS

This was only brought about after NHS staff complained the figures weren't correct. Why are they underplaying this consequences of this virus?

"It is running behind schedule of the usual update time of around 2pm.
Earlier on Monday, a spokesperson for Downing Street addressed the fact that current data on the number of deaths from the virus was from hospitals only.
From tomorrow, the Office for National Statistics will begin collating whole-UK figures including deaths in the community on a weekly basis".

Northern Ireland Leak reveals shortage of coronavirus PPE

"Libby Nolan, a senior nurse currently assigned to an intensive treatment unit (ITU) in south Wales, told the Guardian that some healthcare workers have begun preparing letters to be used in case they die, putting into writing how they were told to work without adequate PPE. She said they were “thinking ahead for insurance and litigation purposes” to ensure their families receive sufficient compensation.

She said PPE shortages remained at the end of last week, including goggles and FFP3 respirator masks, affecting staff safety, adding: “You just wouldn’t send firemen into a burning fire without apparatus, would you?”
