759 have now died, my God that's some jump in 24 hours
It is but still, thankfully, far behind Italy and Spain (around 500 I believe).
We just have to hope it stays that way.
759 have now died, my God that's some jump in 24 hours
....remember the early quote that anything under 20,000 deaths would be good going. Long way to go yet.
You're not understanding, but maybe I'm not explaining it very well, so I'll give it another go with some numbers.
I'm just talking about the UK situation in relation to how bad the situation is likely to be, so forgive me for not delving into the stats outside the UK, but I can't source them
We would normally expect 550 to 600k deaths in the UK this year
If we take a really bad case of 100k COVID-19 deaths, on the face of it, we'd then see 650 to 700k deaths
In reality, some of the people dying, would have died of their underlying condition anyway, so it'd be a bit less than that
So, remembering the context of my original post, which was "number of deaths being hidden", or words to that effect. Regardless of whether or not COVID-19 deaths are recorded as such, then the overall picture can't be hidden.
In reality, we also have a handle on the number of respiratory related deaths per year there are, so if the number of COVID-19 deaths aren't high enough to show up in the overall number of deaths, then they'll almost show up as an anomaly in respiratory deaths ( again, remember the context of my first post )
No, Coronavirus is far worse than the flu. If you think I'm saying that, then you've read pretty much nothing of what I typed
Again, read what I type, not what you thought I typed
No one is modelling for that, as stated before, there are normally ~ 600k deaths per year in the UK. The driver in the UK, and every other country for that matter should be to keep excess COVID-19 deaths to as low a number as possible. If, at the end of this year ( and next year for that matter ), the overall number of deaths is similar to what you'd expect, then that'll be seen as being a very good outcome overall.
Awful impact on these communities
Elmira, Ontario. Lovely place but it can be brutally cold
When I first heard that figure, it just didn't register as possible.....remember the early quote that anything under 20,000 deaths would be good going. Long way to go yet.
That'll be both ends of the M40 corridor in total lockdown. Now begins the long and painstaking process of trying to track down all his children to let them know.
Just had a msg from a mate, police in N Wales turning dozens of people around that where going to coastal resorts.
this is the updated info I have seen:My pal is in employment law, so keeping me informed (aside from the fact I’m still waiting to hear personally from my firm).
Well their neighbours the Danes aren't too happy about it. They've closed the bridge from Malmo to Copenhagen. It’s going to be really interesting to see how Sweden get on. They are continuing the strategy originally started in the U.K. with keeping things going and no lockdown before Boris was bounced into lockdown........
Sadly don't think this will be unique as it spreads into down town USA, very fractured health care system were money buys you health care.
