You're not understanding, but maybe I'm not explaining it very well, so I'll give it another go with some numbers.

I'm just talking about the UK situation in relation to how bad the situation is likely to be, so forgive me for not delving into the stats outside the UK, but I can't source them

We would normally expect 550 to 600k deaths in the UK this year
If we take a really bad case of 100k COVID-19 deaths, on the face of it, we'd then see 650 to 700k deaths
In reality, some of the people dying, would have died of their underlying condition anyway, so it'd be a bit less than that

So, remembering the context of my original post, which was "number of deaths being hidden", or words to that effect. Regardless of whether or not COVID-19 deaths are recorded as such, then the overall picture can't be hidden.

In reality, we also have a handle on the number of respiratory related deaths per year there are, so if the number of COVID-19 deaths aren't high enough to show up in the overall number of deaths, then they'll almost show up as an anomaly in respiratory deaths ( again, remember the context of my first post )

No, Coronavirus is far worse than the flu. If you think I'm saying that, then you've read pretty much nothing of what I typed

Again, read what I type, not what you thought I typed

No one is modelling for that, as stated before, there are normally ~ 600k deaths per year in the UK. The driver in the UK, and every other country for that matter should be to keep excess COVID-19 deaths to as low a number as possible. If, at the end of this year ( and next year for that matter ), the overall number of deaths is similar to what you'd expect, then that'll be seen as being a very good outcome overall.

After the figures that have just been released. I've lost my appetite to debate. I'll come back to it.

Awful impact on these communities

...one of the Mayor’s has been a regular on the news over here and he said as much yesterday.

If a person isn’t captured as having the virus and then dies, it isn’t counted. He said lots of Italians who chose to go untested and self-isolate before getting very sick are not being counted on official statistics.

Elmira, Ontario. Lovely place but it can be brutally cold

Now that you mention it, I think you've told me that before. I live in London, about an hour's drive away. This winter has been a breeze. Try living in the Maritimes -- they get absolutely pounded by snow. And the Prairies often see temperatures of -40 or lower (but it's a dry cold). Basically, Southern Ontario has probably the best winters weather-wise outside of coastal B.C.

My pal is in employment law, so keeping me informed (aside from the fact I’m still waiting to hear personally from my firm).
this is the updated info I have seen:

The maximum grant will be calculated per employee and is the lower of:
• 80% of ‘an employee's regular wage’ and.
• £2,500 per month.
Plus the associated employers’ national insurance contributions (NIC) on this amount and the minimum automatic enrolment employer pension contributions on that wage.
Fees, commission and bonuses should not be included.
This gives a maximum cap of £2,500 +£245 (employers’ NIC) + £59 (auto- enrolled pension contribution) = £2,804 of total possible grant that can be applied for per employee per month.
