And those 3 days have made a huge difference!!! Not really fella, if they are so far off the mark why is the UK looking at Italy as a gauge! I'm confused by your denial of the facts as they are presented?

A lot has indeed changed in those 3 days.

Italys first death was Feb 21.
Uks first death was March 5th.

Its been 22 days since the UKs first death and we have 463 deaths.
After 22 days Italy had 1441 deaths.

Can't help think if I was hooked up to one of them and the person in the bed next to me had a standard one it would make me feel jealous as I listen out for any strange noises pre-empting sudden failure... :D

Here is the news article about the ventilators.

I'm starting to feel slightly more optimistic that the public are now taking this seriously and that its starting to have a positive effect.
Whilst controlling save distance etc at work today a woman walked out and genuinely sneezed all over me.
"Oh, I'm full of cold"

Clearly the look i gave her and the vocal response from the lady behind her upset her, but FFS.

Its been 3 days mate, the effects will work, but not just yet, I just think we have been a bit lucky to a degree, maybe we got a lesser strain, maybe we got less infections, maybe our health service is doing a better job, but its very early days and I wont rest until those numbers start going down rather than up.

The rates will explode when we start facing the issues that Italy and Spain are going through, plus the lack of PPE will really start hurting the staff, we are nowhere near out of the forest yet.

Ridiculous behaviour

Theres some out there who either just haven't a clue or they dont care. But people generally are starting to be strict with their distancing now at least.

Have you got a link to that article @Joey66
Seen it on sky news the other night and today Cambridge medical sciences unit ....

It was on Sky news a few days ago, and today showing it working on a life-like dummy the government have seen it, and it was going to be used on a human being this week....
The breathing pipe went from the small box computer into the patients mouth and set up easily nothing like the ballon bag machine used now ......they seemed very confident it was easier more accurate etc let's hope its not a false dawn....?

Definitely not out of the woods at all. Not even close.

But I think the public are actually starting to be sensible. Some of the behaviour last weekend was totally ridiculous but I'm seeing and hearing of far less of it now. I thought it just wouldnt work in this country because people are either too stubborn or completely lacking in common sense.

If we need 3 months of this rather than 3 weeks then so be it. I'd rather keep us inside a fortnight too long than too little.

What will the time after this be like for us? I can see many people permanently working from home, as companies realise that they may not need to hire or buy massive office blocks, and will save lots of money on that alone, employees will save on commute both money and time, people who are working from home may move away from urban areas and play their part in revitalising rural communities. This I think will be the biggest change in life after Corona.

I've been banging on about this for ages in my work (civil service funnily enough) as my Gf works for civil service too and has worked 3/5 days from home for a few years. Main reason I want to WFH is the dog will have someone with him every day if I do, on top of all the other benefits. Anyway, it's been met by almost laughing in my face at the very suggestion and very dismissive. Main boss has been blocking it apparently. Well I hope she has a lot to answer for after this as I'll have been off around a whole month at least and I'm 1 of 100s sent home with pay. Its going to cost 100s of 1000s now. Would have been cheaper to buy laptops after all.

Spot on mate.

They simply have to get testing done to the front line ASAP because without that you'll have 50% of the workforce in isolation with symptoms but not actual covid19 and that's where it starts getting tricky and hospitals get overrun

Got to look after the front line ( and I just want to confirm that I'm classing front line as NHS of course, but teachers and cleaners as well).

We are a fair few weeks away imo from being clear of the woods. Let's hope beyond hope we get to post low numbers, we suppress it and get back to some kind of normality
