The hospital I worked in in Coventry started charging in 1991, my wife pays £24 a month, pro-rata reduced as she works 3 days a week.Thats for a car park 15 minutes walk from the hospital, ( from The Olympia to Prescot st.).All staff have to pay as far as I know.
Not up on these things but could someone start a petition that the government have to debate about free parking for NHS staff. I'm sure millions would sign it.

What a lemon 'boy wonder' Sunak really is. 'You'll get your grant in June'. A grant that is to be paid back. So in the meantime, claim universal credit - which is swamped and can't cope so people aren't getting any money. And if you do get through a claim, that will be taken from your grant in June.

Another own goal by boy wonder. He should have been told people were getting a universal basic income.

And who does the first question go to? Why Laura 'I'm Boris's cheerleader' Kuessenberg. Who as usual asks a daft question that allows them to waffle.

Seems like he now hopes it's up and running by June. He says 'it's complicated'. Universal basic income is extremely easy.

Devil in the detail, as ever, but seemed fair. Like the idea they (HMRC) are doing the leg work, and I just wait for a letter it seems. Then I face a moral dilemma.

Yep the details will be the key

It's far more difficult to get a system which is seen as "fair" for the self employed because it's such a wide bracket. But I think it sounds ok to me anyway.

Very orderly in my local supermarket today (Ireland )
5 out and 5 in
Special opening times for the elderly
Stocks well up on everything
Heard a report earlier that hairdryer sales are yo 500%
Why I cannot fathom
You heard about the US senator(?) who stated that heating one's nose with a hairdryer >60celsius killed the bad guy right?

Nope.

It's 80% of your average monthly earnings over the last three years (or, I guess, as long as possible if you're below 3 years).

Thats a good point. He said its taxable, so taking 80% of last 3 years net makes no sense. So they just average 3 years gross, turn it into a monthly average, and 80% of that as a taxable grant.

I'm a big fan of Sunak.

This is an incredibly complex thing to roll out and ensure it goes to those who need it. Its miles harder than for employees.

So I take it HMRC will contact me and pay 80% of my average wage over the last 3 years? All's I do is fill the form they give me, sounds reasonable TBF, bit of a wait but at least you know you'll get something
