I didn't know they were a thing. Its actually pretty handy because my in-laws are overseas and if we wanted to spend a year (or more) near them we probably could with having to totally quit the UK and our jobs. Mad what you find in the covid thread ;)
The tax incentive is also huge. In Portugal, the tax rate rate for foreigners is a flat rate of 20%

Last month Spain finally started their digital nomad scheme and the income tax rate is 15% for up to 4 years!

Long covid sufferers must feel somewhat forgotten. Still some really unfortunate cases happening and hopefully virologists haven't has all doors closed to them since it left the headlines or got weaponised as a political tool by the grifters.

Don't know if anyone followed physics girl on YouTube, but her current situation is really heartbreaking. This is a hard watch.

I live here bud. You can be my everton friend.

I'm so close to doing the same. There's nothing keeping us in the UK any longer.. except for family...
If I had known there wasn't an official EFC Supporters Club in Lisbon I'd have looked elsewhere.

In all seriousness, though, if you can - do. I'm not talking from experience because I haven't left the UK yet, but I know 5 people from work + my two cousins who haven't looked back.

And @JimmyJeffers hopefully knows a bar or two with a blue crowd if you do get to Lisbon.

Spain would be the one though, just because the language is easier to learn than Portuguese (apparently).

In Lisbon, there’s a gay bar called The Liverpool.

My Portuguese is rough to say the least, but the standard of English speaking in Portugal is much higher than Spain. Especially amongst the younger generation. Almost at Dutch/Nordic levels

(Sorry for off topic)
I still reckon you need to know some of the language, particularly outside of tourist areas.
Otherwise you're seriously limited by how much English the other person knows.
Sorry off topic ,

For sure, and it is respectful to try, although I get very strange looks when I do this
To get back on topic, the government here was elected on a majority, largely off approval of their handling of the pandemic. Made the Tories look like bumbling buffoons.
