Certain politicians and members of the public have been advocating an Australian approach to immigration for decades, now suddenly everyone is shocked . The Australian system hasn’t suddenly changed its just impacting on people that the media care about .

Well I mean this is about the vaccine mandate not that points system?

Health care systems are stretched to the breaking point in almost every country right now. Being vaccinated virtually guarantees you’re not going to end up needing to be hospitalized due to COVID. If you want the privilege of being allowed to visit a country where the medical resources are limited, you should be able to prove that you’re unlikely to be a further burden on those struggling services. Hence the vaccine passports.

An alcohol ban on Brits abroad under a certain age would probably be a lot more effective at avoiding burdening local hospitals...

I get its different what I mean generally is the Australians are known for being incredibly strict immigration wise . They don’t care what the world says or how their actions are perceived particularly in regards to those seeking asylum . Suddenly because a tennis player is ‘detained’ its an outage .


This entire situation has been appalling handled but so had so much of their immigration policy for decades .

Again, I think you'll find if you go to Benidorm you'll see a lot more older Brits that are wrecked than younger ones

It is rubbish. I really hope the silver lining from all this is that it sheds light on what people who lack his status and profile have to go through for years rather than a few days.

That was my take as well. Horrible way to treat people. Djokovic is lucky that it will only be a small amount of time for him.

Thats very true! I went to a Take That gig a few years back in Manchester on a Saturday night (fair to say not my decision...) and couldn't believe the scenes afterwards. It was actually like the end of a night in Malia or something - absolute states everywhere, but all middle aged or older. Some just passed out on grass verges and everything.

In my experience as well, it is a mistake to go for drinks with them unless you like repeatedly falling face first into puddles.
