It is probably all political but like you say it's the right decision. If the population can't travel to another state within Australia why should someone who extensively travels around all different countries with varying levels of infection be allowed to just waltz in.
I had a chesty cough for about a month after I’d recovered. Rang the doctor, he said it was a normal post-covid symptom and to monitor it and call back if it gets any worse.

If this comes in then it’s clear as day it’s not about protecting people from a virus anymore. An absolute nonsense rule.

Besides, loads and loads of pubs and restaurants are closed because all their staff either have covid or are isolating.
Maybe if they had of checked covid vaccine status they wouldn't have so many staff out.
The vaccine status doesn’t tell you that they don’t have covid though, so it wouldn’t have done anything.
Well of course it would, it would tell you the person has a much lower chance of having covid, statistically.
But is it though? Because infection rates are now higher than ever and the vast majority of people in the country are vaccinated. Everyone I know who’s caught it over the winter has been double vaccinated or boosted. Everyone in this thread who has had it recently have been vaccinated. Under these rules all those people would’ve been freely allowed to go the pub to spread it around like confetti. Why are we still acting like unvaccinated people are the ones carrying and spreading covid?

Of course it is. Vaccination reduces the risk of infectuon, the overall viral load by preventing severe illness and the amount of time someone is infectious.
There is no argument there.
Government forcing industry to install proper ventilation and filtration systems would be better but lobbyists will prevent that from happening. So we will flitter about at the seams with restrictions on entry. Its a pain in the arse but it will help with reducing infection.
Well I’ve just given you an argument? That the vaccine doesn’t stop you catching the virus so therefore how are vaccine passports going to help anything? If your goal is to prevent spread then only proof of a negative test is an effective measure. Because if you don’t actually have the virus you cannot spread it, a room full of people that don’t have covid can’t infect each other with nothing. A room full of people with covid, vaccinated or not, can pass the virus on to each other. It’s really not hard at all to understand.
It reduces the risk and therefore overall number of infections. Its a bogus argument you're making. I wear a hellet playing hurling to reduce my chance of getting a hurl or sliotar in the noggin. I may still get one but much less chance.
