is that the whole journal with references or just the abstract?

then you have to understand them enough to process the information correctly.

I deal with scientific journals/peer papers every day at work, I have done for 5 plus years, and I couldn't confidently interpretate the majority
Sci hub that has been mentioned and also 12ft.io.
Simple tools. Copy and paste the URL and into one of those sites and it should remove the paywalls. For the full article. You can use it for most paywalls.
I mainly use 12ft, for nursing times, but donread the odd paper on mental health. I usually send my students to it. They can get everything they need .
There are other ways. But those 2 sites are the easiest.

This is so painful it's making my head hurt. If you got a flu vaccine in 2019, it's not going to be any use to you this flu season because the virus has mutated. 2 jabs are effective for alpha, delta, and so on, but are not so effective for omicron, which is why you need the additional vaccine. We've been in this for 2 years now. I can't believe quite how poorly informed people are after so long. Maybe read a bit less from dullards like Pearson and more from scientifically literate sources.
The booster campaign was underway before omicron appeard. How has this now become the reason for boosters.

Cool, cheers. Didn't know these existed

The problems with putting pressure on people through the media to get vaccinated hits a little problem. A lot of younger people don't watch the news or read papers. So it's falling in deaf ears. You can quote the daily mail and their comment section all you like. They ain't reading it. Probs don't even know it exists.
There are a lot of young ones where I work, who have not had 1 jab. They don't take any notice of the news or papaes. It's a different world to them. So any attacks through the media are just not going to land. As ridiculous as it sounds. It will need a high profile love islander or footballer to be seriously ill or die for them to notice.

It was, but it has also been shown to provide much better protection against it than the initial doses.

Evidence shows that a booster dose will offer you much greater protection against Omicron than two doses of the vaccine.

A study by the UK Health Security Agency suggests that Covid-19 boosters are 70 to 75 percent effective at preventing illness from Omicron (in the early period after vaccination). We expect that boosters will offer even greater protection against serious illness from Omicron, as this is what we’ve seen with other variants.

We do not yet know enough about the Omicron variant of Covid to reduce the self-isolation time to five days, an NHS leader says.

Matthew Taylor from the NHS Confederation tells the Today programme staff absence “is a huge issue for the NHS right now”.

Up to four in 10 NHS staff in London are said to be absent because of sickness or seven-day Covid quarantine.

Taylor says if self-isolation were to be reduced to five days it would have to be based on very clear data that shows it would not increase the rate of infection.

“While anyone in the NHS would be delighted if people were able to come back to work earlier if they are safe... we need to be absolutely sure that is the case,” he says.

"If the rate continues to rise in the way that it's rising at the moment it’s going to be potentially peaking around the middle of January, which traditionally is the time at which demand on the NHS is at its greatest," he says.

Taylor says although Omicron appears to produce less severe symptoms it could still have serious consequences for vulnerable people in hospital.
From the BBC.

Obviously it’s a good thing that more aren’t in hospital but we can already see the PFA deciding when to play and when not to in lieu of a proper enforced winter break - creating a huge mess.

Better to set up proper parameters now because we are dangerously close to unraveling completely
I really don't think the PFA making decisions on player welfare (which, they aren't???) has anything to do with putting the country into lockdown...

Had a blocked throat last night, woke up with a fever this morning. Tested positive on lateral flow but can’t get a PCR. Doesn’t really matter as I must have it
Yeah likelihood is you'll have it mate. I was the same (not exactly the same symptoms mind) - but did manage to get a PCR, which I'm waiting on the results of but I'm just treating it like it's a definite I have it.

If it's any positive, I'll be on day three of symptoms now and honestly bar a blocked nose now and a sore throat overnight that painkillers sorted out, I feel alright. I felt worse the week before Christmas when I had a cold that wasn't COVID. Lemsip have helped too.

Fingers crossed you have a quick and relatively easy dose of symptoms!

See the weird thing for me is, as a younger person, pretty much everyone I know is vaccinated.

There's two people I know who aren't - one is my mate's girlfriend, who is 23 and actually works for the NHS. But her mum and dad, having got their first doses, decided not to get their second. Now she decided not to get any. Is that on her or parents?

The other one is a 27-year-old who has lived in New Zealand for the last 3 years now.

Quite literally every other person I know around my age is vaccinated and/or boosted.

I don't hang around with 18-21 year olds, like, so maybe that age group is different, but I think young adults have got a lot of grief in this.

Only one of my mates is unvaccinated. Just got COVID for a second time.
