Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Is that ever going to happen? Like seriously. What a dumb analogy.
You said it yourself , it's a choice.

Is it really dumb if the possibility is exclusion based on vaccination status does come into effect? People said covid passports would never be a thing until they were.

At some point , given the hospitals are filling up with unvaccinated people and putting that pressure on the service, that something has to give. Can't keep restricting a country down over and over when it's unvaccinated that are the problem. Not just here either, it's not an isolated thing to the UK, applies to many countries all reporting the same thing.

If you knew for a fact that you had to restrict the country this time next year and not a single person who was vaccinated was at risk, would you honestly still support restrictions being sensible?

Hence the reaction, something has to happen.

It is dumb. You suggested people without a vaccine may find life so restricted they don’t leave the house. Don’t be a vaping moron.

I also am vaccinated and just got it so I am still at risk and whoever I come into contact with are at risk. When does risk become 0% with a vaccine? It doesn’t.

No, that’s not being forced to get a jab, that’s giving you a decision to make.
Austria will fine you until bankruptcy, then jail you, if you or your kids don't get vaccinated.
Germany will vote on enforcing same next week.

UK may only be a few weeks away from such madness, if we take Boris's & Javid's recent tone as a clue.

I don’t think this article is making the point you want it to. Scientists discussing and working out whether the 4th shot is necessary. That’s what they should be doing and clearly what they are
the point is Boosters may be unnecessary for three key reasons:
1) the available vaccines aren't particularly effective against Omicron.
2) there are concerns pumping yourself with MRNA-vaccines may hinder your immune system's natural ability to work: hindering ability to create natural N antibodies because your immune system is dependent on the creation of the vaccine-induced S antibodies. Frankly, we don't know if a vaccinated person's immune system can produce sufficient N-antibodies if infected. It may be reliant on the production of S-antibodies, making regular boosters vital. Source here, and page 46 of here. These links are heavy reading, and they don't jump to any conclusions, but they do raise fair questions.
3) Omicron appears to be relatively mild for non-risk folk.

The Times piece I linked makes all these points, choice quotes:
1) "A new British report shows that booster doses are less effective against Omicron than previous variants, and their effectiveness wears off faster — within 10 weeks."
2) "a fourth shot in less than a year could actually weaken immunity...too many shots might cause a sort of immune system fatigue, compromising the body’s ability to fight the coronavirus."
3) "there is evidence that Omicron, discovered just last month, usually causes milder illness than earlier variants."

Pressure on the healthy unvaccinated becomes less meaningful by the day, especially when we add similar infectiousness-potential (here, and here) compared to the vaccinated, and the relatively benign hospital-numbers (nowhere near earlier peaks). So if this pressure is kept up regardless of these points, backed by outright lies from our most senior politicians, shouldn't we begin to ask why? What is really going on here?

This has been my main singular point in all my posts in this thread, at least ever since the unvaccinated became pariahs. I appreciate no one here is arsed enough to read them, but in the real world the unvaccinated are getting genuinely scared with how quickly things are developing against them (and not talking about the virus!) just because their gut instinct tells them to wait-and-see.

Or...we could just 'trust the experts'

In case some of yous are moved to check out my earlier posts, these two list a lot of relevant info concerned folk may want to take a closer look at:

Never said you cared but it just looks a bit embarrassing to hide your facts and opinions behind stats you apparently don’t know how to pop on a forum. Hope you got vouchers for ICT lessons down the library this Christmas.

I've stated what is accepted by the science - if people question those things because it doesn't add up to what they personally believe or what Boris Johnson tells them then its on them to read up on things themselves and/or find evidence on the contrary.

I don’t live in Austria or Germany and there’s been no such suggestion of that happening in the UK. However I thought our Christmas present was you leaving till next year? Why are you back?

All we ask is for the science that backs them up. It’s not a complicated ask.

Didnt your missus have a bad side effect from the jabs mate?

And you too were hammered on here and labelled a liar if I recall also?
She did yeah, something you have listed on here recently.

She spoke to the doctor not too long ago as there was a little reaction months later and even the doctor put it down to the vaccine effects.

You are right , I was shut down as not being possible with one poster calling her a moron. If the doctors are aware of the side effect then I don't know why people on the internet have such a hard time accepting they exist.

A government that actually decides to do something rather than procrastinate
They were waiting on the hospital data from London and around the country though.

I agree that uncertainty is the last thing that's needed, but the very next to last thing is shutting things down if there's no real reason to do so. I posted the official data in here earlier, I'll go find it, but so far there's no justification to shut things down.

When it gives you mild symptoms and doesn't kill you or send you to hospitals, that's when it's 0% risk.

I actually remember you from last year. Suggesting old people sitting in the park for Christmas dinner. Not sure your version of a moron opinion is any more credible.

See I might not fully agree with @ForeverBlue92 but he's not anti-vax either. He was keen as mustard to get his vaccines earlier in the year. He's had an unfortunate experience and one that might well have been avoided so I can fully understand why that would cloud someone's view too. It's fair. We're all affected in our own ways mostly by our personal experiences.
