The problem isn't how many are getting it , according to science the best thing for the population given it offers super immunity alongside the vaccinations.

The problem pure and simple is who isn't vaccinated. Those are the strain on the hospitals, the majority of the admissions directly related to covid are unvaccinated, here and overseas.

Can debate this that and everything but if the unvacinated all got their jabs tomorrow , the new variant has significantly reduced the theat of covid down to that of a cold. The only 'threat' now is on the shoulders of who decided the vaccine wasn't for them.

Well really it's just as much issues with staffing. NHS frontline workers having to isolate is an issue.

This man is a complete idiot and has been since the start of this thing...
"Other respiratory conditions and conditions such as diarrhea could have a serious impact on people, he warned." ....Isolate now if you have diarrhea, granted it may not be the best idea to stray too far from a toilet if you have diarrhea but isolation is a bit of a step... this tool would be happy for permanent lockdown.

But to what extent would that be an issue if people didn't have to isolate for such minor ailments? We are still operating under the covid means serious illness even after its not.

It's a whole debate I'm sure, the counter would be nurses giving it to patients , the counter to that would be vaccinated / died with not of etc. Just go round and round in the bigger picture.

At some point covid will stop being such a dangerous virus and mild symptoms will be treated as such. The country cannot keep going in a march 2020 mindset for too much longer without it purposely self sabotaging itself. Nor can the country cater for people who chose not to take the cure.

It will be like applying social distancing and restrictions throughout the country for the children whos parent didn't give them their vaccines as a kid just in case they catch one of them. Even though they are only a danger to each other. That's covid now , it's only a danger to unvaccinated.

There are other things that require hospitalisation that aren’t covid obviously but if people are isolating because of covid then that’s going to build up the strain on those places even more

This has been an issue ever since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 though hasn’t it? The isolation rules have remained the same, in fact they’re more relaxed now than they were then because you can break the isolation period with a negative test after 7 days whereas you couldn’t before.

Yeah but when do you draw the line and say they no longer need to? If not seriously ill? There will be a point where you stop it, otherwise it never ends.

That doesn’t answer my question. Delta is still in circulation only controlled and limited by vaccinations. Anyone unvaccinated is at risk.

Doesn’t that concern you?

Does it concern me from the point of view of my own health? No not at all. It was mild the first time I had it, and I have antibodies now, I’m not worried about catching it again personally no.

I think that last part is totally fair

I’m getting my booster but I won’t be getting any more unless it’s an annual thing like the flu jab, which I also got this year
It's really not. If someone whose life revolves around discovering and researching vaccines says so, "then" it's fair. Some random knobber off the internet saying it isn't fair at all. It's meaningless.

When did you catch it? As I thought anti bodies are only present in the system for 3-6 weeks after recovery. After that it’s game on again.
