theres no evidence they work at all!
They definitely work indoors to a degree, again like vaccines they're not 100% but outdoors you shouldn't really have to wear them. Apparently bars and pubs are open but you have to wear a mask outdoors? That makes no sense. Wearing a mask outdoors should be the last resort. Even after the first few months of the pandemic it was well known that masks aren't needed outdoors and outdoor infections are very rare.

The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday authorized Paxlovid, a pill developed and made by Pfizer, as a treatment for Covid-19, a significant step in the battle against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The drug was authorized for use in people as young as 12 so long as they weigh at least 88 pounds.

The authorization of an oral antiviral to beat back Covid has been eagerly anticipated because such a medicine could reach large numbers of people infected with the virus and prevent them from becoming seriously ill or hospitalized. Existing medicines, such as monoclonal antibodies, must be given intravenously or as injections.

It's an EUA so only "experimental" is what I bet we do NOT hear from folks that thought the vaccines experimental

Balanced summary of current UK situation

One thing that they don't go into there - unless I've missed it - is the incidental rates of admissions.

Last week we were told 50% (give or take) of the people going into hospital with COVID/Omicron were incidental findings (i.e. that wasn't the primary reason they were in hospital)

That's needed to get a grip on just how serious Omicron actually is really. If it's still at 50% then that's also a positive (pardon the pun)

If its not then we will have terrifying numbers and a draconian lockdwn within a few weeks. But as they count that way for infection control, that may be inevitable to take the pressure off

Yeah didn’t see that referenced and it is important context

Not quite sure about the 50% incidental figure - are you meaning from this graph we discussed or some other data?

One of the incidentals that is going to particularly complicate the situation is hospital acquired Covid

There was a number of like 111/180-odd or something like that Legs, that I saw in a post - I think you shared it but I can't be certain
