When will the 2 week lockdown end? My guess is mid April.
I'm still of the belief that this supposed 'circuit break' isn't the forlorn conclusion some may suggest it is. A possibility? Yes. A contingency plan? Definitely.

Surely, it'll be based on the hospitalisation and death rate from the virus in conjunction with the overall state of the NHS. If we can ride it out, they will.

In all seriousness, it would be wrong of them to not consider such scenarios, so it being put to ministers may not be how the press are spinning it.

Or it might... we'll see.

The way I see it is that the press have found everything out in advance. The amount of media reporting on this makes it pretty much inevitable.

Everybody watch the first 10 seconds of this video.

Then everybody respond and tell me who has had those symptoms at any stage in the last month.

I've got them right now - and I've tested negative four times in the last four days :)

To add to this, worth watching the entire video. I've just checked up the data and he is right - 65 people currently in hospital in the UK with Omicron confirmed.

Keep in mind Omicron has been here what, 2-3 weeks at least, and is spreading like wildfire - 65 people...

Any circuit breaker just increases the length of the peak. This variant is going through everyone.

A circuit breaker is ridiculous as cases will be higher after 2 weeks than when they start it and they'll then extend it.

If we need a lockdown, call it a lockdown and make it 8+ weeks.
The lockdown/circuit breaker was only going to work if it happened at the start of December. I actually remember saying it. I didn't want it to happen and thought it was overblown but if they were really worried that was the time to do it. To get ahead of it completely.

Not so much by people deliberately going out and spreading it because they think they won’t be able to later.
Nobody deliberately goes out and spreads covid. Not behaving like you’ve got the virus (because you don’t have the virus) does not equal going out and spreading covid. If you have no symptoms and there are no legal restrictions from stopping you actually going out/socialising etc. then there is no issue. The issue comes from people who are afraid or are disapproving. That’s it.

People hiding symptoms or not getting tested is a completely different issue. And there are different reasons why people do this eg selfishness, people who just cannot afford the isolation hit for whatever reason, unhealthy work culture of people going in when sick etc. But this judgement on healthy people wanting to just live their lives really needs to stop.

What's the usual recovery time for these booster vaccs?

Booked in for mine on Monday and hoping it's not going to impact me shovelling Christmas food and beverages down my neck.

Going to the pub this afternoon. Cancelled a meal out in the city regrettably, but we're wrapping up and going for a couple of local pints outdoors. Doing our tiny, drop in the ocean bit for hospitality. And perhaps last time we can go out for some time
