Indeed, but its the rest of what they are doing that concerns me. The Guardian article on this quotes UCL's Prof Christina Pagel:

They are scrapping the red list too, apparently on the grounds that Omicron is everywhere. As a plan to deal with this it doesn't make much sense, except to get people to do one thing that is required whilst thinking they don't have to do anything else.
They're scrapping the red list but bringing in the mandatory daily testing for those who arrive into the country aren't they? That one that's been in place for a few weeks. It's just scrapping the enforced hotel quarantine which is friggin horrible.

Also, telling people to isolate if they're contacts of Omicron cases as Pagel suggests is mental. It is going to be everywhere, you'd cripple the country. You literally wouldn't have any healthcare workers able to work...

I’m glad to see my three doses and having had the bugger means I should be okay, if that’s how I’m meant to read that.
Yeah by the time i have my booster (December 29th)

I'll have had three jabs in the space of exactly six months, plus have had COVID during that time too. I'm 26 and healthy with no underlying conditions. If that's not enough protection then we might as well never bother.

Wasn't live though so no nasty questions from those pesky journalists.

It was a serious statement made to the nation of what needs to take place.…..meanwhile Starmer is banging on about some Zoom meeting from twelve months ago. Politics is fine in its place, dealing with today’s issues are a bit more important than point scoring imo……

Think it a lot more equitable and effective system tbh, the travel bans on African nations were soon rendered not just pointless but positively counterproductive as SA could not get testing supplies.

Edit are they still requiring tests pre travel because a bit daft if they scrap that bit.

it's just a ludicrous, horrid thing. 10 days in some horrid prison - whatever your reasons for being away.

There's enough testing around and enough capability for people to do daily ones. They're also testing before they even get on the plane.

My mate is still planning to come back from Amsterdam for Xmas and is set up to get his PCR test upon arrival at Manchester airport.

Needs sorting out. But that surely has to be on the local GPs...

My nana is 81 too. Severe dementia, my mum and aunt care for her. She's gone to the GP surgery for all of her vaccinations but they did offer to come to her too
So far, its been via phone calls and the receptionists. I will write an email now and " put it in writing" and see if the options suddenly change
