Order lateral flow tests off the NHS website. Scan it in, get the result on the app and you can go with the app as proof you're negative. Probably going to need to be vaccinated at some point in the future though.

Trying to stop the world from spinning again for something that’s little more than common cold symptoms to 99% of the population and deadlines to a minute percentage of the remaining 1%.

I don't disagree at all about doing things ahead of time rather than react. Absolutely I have said the same thing last year that we reacted too late. I completely understand where you are coming from.

At some point though you have to see it from my perspective , that there isn't a solid base for introducing more restrictions. If we now take the policy of being too cautious then there can't be a safe period until covid is gone.

If it is when covid passes. Well sadly that is not going to happen. So do we do this for ever?
If it is when we realise this is not going away, so we need to crack on, then you can say all this now is a waste of time, and we will look back upon it and just think what a waste of 2-3 years of our life.

Somebody has to be brave and make the decision. Sadly I think the whole world is waiting for 1 of the major country's to make that call. When 1 does, the rest will fall in. But it needs 1 to stand up and say, let's stop this and manage it the best we can.

I was referring to the point made by poster that Covid in general is comparable to a cold, not the new strain. The new strain will be less deadly (and probably exists) because of intervention.

By and large, that’s what the US has done at this point. Trouble is, our first 18 months fighting this thing were such a shambles that no European country probably wants to cast their gaze across the Atlantic right now and say, “They’re really nailing it, let’s follow their lead.”

This is a reckless comment which completely ignores the people who have died as a direct result of either restrictions not being in place soon enough or people choosing to ignore them.

It’s not, it’s my opinion and im free to voice it after all this rubbish we are being fed. People have a right to express their opinion.

It has killed a few people in South Africa I believe but the number is unclear. They have had an estimated over 100,000 cases so the death ratio at the moment is incredibly low. It probably will be a bit higher in a couple of weeks.

It certainly doesn’t exist because of interventions. The only way it mutates into a new variant is by spreading, which the interventions are designed to prevent.

Think the reason the Mogg one hasn’t been brought up today is that, while pretty disgusting, it was from an event this week. Hard enough to get them to condemn the actual illegal event without throwing that in there to muddy the waters

You mean the things we’ve already done for neigh on two years and made sacrifices in order to comply with?

Vulnerable people are now vaccinated AND given boosters on top of that so mortality is even lower than it was to begin with. Now’s the time to accept that it’s got to be treated in the same manner as Flu going forwards.
