Interesting to see what they class as "non-essential" shops

I'm double vaxxed and will be taking my booster when offered it, but I'm not really on board with keeping the non-vaxxed out of shops to be honest, especially when you can put a Rizla paper between what is and isn't essential shopping sometimes
The problem in this country if you leave it to the public to decide most decide to do nothing, which is why we are were we are. Take the football, start of the season we had this thing about checks, but it wasnt ever put into practice, when a stadium is very easy to enforce, but becuase they dont very few will get tested going the match becuase they dont have too

Nazism is back shouts are unserious and dangerous, I would say, but the first European countries going along with forced vaccination being Germany and Austria is really unfortunate.

Not to mention their rate when looked 18+/adults, both close to %80. Weird.

Still quite a bit lower compared to other European nations and it is very regional, Saxony in particular seems to have a very low rate

Only a bit lower, indeed. Considering their history they should not have gone for it..If anything this will encourage the unvaccinated folk as the Economist article I shared last week suggested :(

Merkel should have left the decision to the new government in the making.

I’m really starting to believe that Covid is the way natural selection has decided to get rid off the many crazy religious fanatics that keep spreading misinformation to their followers. How many more lives will have to be lost until these people realize this pandemic is real.

Looking at the data around Europe, it’s becoming increasingly clear that infection amongst children and their parents is playing a big role in the European Surge. Governments s really need to look at how they are mitigating risk of primary infection in children and secondary infection in adults, through their contact with children.

Lots more <15 than over >80 in population and testing numbers, therfore cases. These graphs dont always tell the whole story.

22% of over 12s not vaccinated compared to the UK‘s 13.6% will quickly mount up cases/hospitalizations during a wave with exponential growth, especially as the waves in Germany have been smaller than the Uk so less natural acquired immunity in the population overall.

I’d presume that was Merkel’s preference as doubt any politician would want to make the decision but guess she decided that the situation called for it and delay would only worsen the Covid situation.

I don’t know enough about German situation (either political or Covid) to assess whether right move or what the likely reaction will be tbh

%78 when it comes to 12+ ? They are even higher than I thought. Mental stuff imo. Let's hope the new left govt reconsiders it.

They are classing essential shops as basically just supermarkets and chemists I think. There may have been 1 or 2 others but not much more than that.

If the demographics of the anti vaxxers in Germany are anything to go by, the far right will have a much lower vote share in the next elections.

I wish that is the case, but sadly I think this mandatory vaccination thing will ramp their support up again.

It would be better to just tell the unvaccinated that, in the event they catch it, they’ll be treated in a strict order after everyone else.
