Santa Cruz County brings back indoor mask mandate as coronavirus cases rise
Santa Cruz County is reinstating its indoor mask mandate, citing an increase in...www.sfchronicle.com
The revived mask mandate was scheduled to go into effect Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Under the rules, everyone regardless of vaccination status must wear a mask in indoor public settings, as well as in private settings including homes when non-household members are present.
Who exactly would invite people round to their house for you to all sit around and wear masks? Mandating what people do in their own homes is definitely overkill and also pointless.
In Prague and literally everyone on the bus and tube has been wearing a mask. Impressive.
Crazy but at least its the first ridiculous measure actually acknowledging the reality that you probably catch it in close contact with people you know, instead of the seemingly widely held assumption you'll catch it the moment you walk into a pub or are around a maskless stranger.mad stuff
It's no more policed than on UK public transport as far as I can see. Just people seem to be doing what's asked of them here. You can fight a virus without resorting to totalitarianism which is what we are starting to see across europe.
What price on long term liberty are you prepared to pay is what you need ask yourself as COVID isnt going away - are you prepared to live a life of restrictions forever (blue)?
Could be UK is testing more also? I think that thread showed for example that the German national incidence is lower than UK, but Germany has just overtaken UK in numbers of ICU patients. That would suggest either less testing or less vaccination (or both).I only checked the case numbers but Czech has roughly the same number as the UK has had for months. The main difference is the vaccination rate.
Or less capacity too? They've got a higher population so really should have more ICU capacity. It doesn't look like covid alone is putting us in the sort of crisis situation they're on about, so it really shouldn't be there eitherCould be UK is testing more also? Less capacity in UK or Germany? No idea personally. Hospitals in southern and eastern Germany are apparently being overwhelmed and they're making plans to evacuate patients to other hospitals around Germany and also in neighbouring countries.Or less capacity too?
