I’d be all for that personally although it is dependent on the level of testing resources available. They do seem to be doing it for hospitals thankfully

Vaccinated people can carry the virus and spread to others but their chances of being infected are still less than an unvaccinated person so requiring vaccinations for indoor will still be somewhat effective at reducing spread and the unvaccinated requiring hospital care assuming the rules are followed.

At each of the three gigs I've been at over the last few weeks (1 at Ally Pally, big 10,000 venue in London, 1 at Manchester Victoria Warehouse (3,000 capacity) and one at O2 Academy in Leeds (2,500)), there was lateral flow testing available on the door for people who didn't have a vaccine pass, immunity pass (180 days) or a negative lateral flow result to show. It was adhered to very strictly at each venue.

There's a hell of a lot to criticise about the UK's covid approach. The testing, to be fair, isn't one of them right now. They are available pretty much on demand, even PCR tests, and for free. They should stay that way for the next six months IMO.

I don't think that "proof" of a negative test is the answer either.. I've worked with people who don't even bother taking the test but just log it on the gov website as a negative. Basically you can't trust people not to be [Poor language removed] morons.
I just got back from Paris and had to book day 2 tests. Mine was a lateral flow which I just had to upload a photo of. I did it properly but there is no check on that.

My mum, 2 brothers and sister in law who ordered from the same government approved company still haven’t received theirs and got an email blaming the post for the issue. These tests cost £29 each.

There are so many flaws in the system

I've yet to hear of a self-reporting regime that works, and the pushback against actual enforcement usually comes from the problem people.

@Bruce Wayne
I'm in Vienna at the moment. It's like that here already. We got turned away from a restaurant last night as they couldn't read our vaccine passports. Not a major deal tbh. I can see Czech going the same, but whether it will encourage more people to get jabbed, we'll see I suppose.

Austria apparently confirming a full lockdown today starting from Monday and apparently they are making vaccination mandatory early next year. I believe they'll be the first country to make it compulsory.

Around 64% of Austria's total population are vaccinated. 16+ would be considerably higher too.

Wow. They are around %80 when you put it as 18+, too.

Pretty sure making it compulsory will be against Hippocratic Oath. WHO should reject that methinks.

But how will it be enforced? Breaking into homes? Or the threat of jail sentences if not getting vaccinated?
Restaurants, hotels and other hospitality venues will be fairly straightforward as its just an extra part of the "check in" process. How it might work in places like shops and public transport though where the foot flow tends to be much greater I don't know as it's hard to see how they would staff that.
