Hobest question, why is the rate of vaccinated people in the 40s double the rate of unvaccinated? And I don't mean just cases, I mean per capita. More people per 100k vaxed are getting it. This is NHS figures for the last three weeks, I might be stupid here but is there any reasoning behind this?

Great stuff Richy, and also for going public with it. But I wonder why it’s taken him so long to get it.
Credit to FIFA and the Premier League for changing the rules to ensure only the vaccinated can leave quarantine once a day to train and play on their return from international duty if the player has been in a red list country.

I suspect this concentrated a few less-than-broad minds.

Richarlison was probably listening to that Bolsonaro-supporting creep Neymar before sense finally prevailed.
I don’t know but it might be down to the fact he was away for the entire summer so maybe he was delayed in getting his first? Given he’s only 24 he won’t have been high up on the list. Not sure, just a thought.

Either way, he’s had he second now so that’s all good with me. And he’s publicising it which is even better

Is this really true? The per capita sounds worrying

Yes mate

The data's there, double the amount per capita for people in their forties.

Edit: by no means an I saying get worried or anything, I'm fully vaxed just wondering can anyone explain this, is this a mistake

Just had a quick look at those stats and I'm a little drunk so if I am reading this wrong I apologise but from what I can see the most important tables to look at are the ones on page 14 and 15.

40 year olds fully vaxxed being hospitalised per 100k : 5.1
40 year olds unvaxxed being hospitalised per 100k: 23.0

40 year olds fully vaxxed dying per 100k: 0.4
40 year olds unvaxxed dying per 100k: 2.7

As for the difference in case rates per 100k there could be a few factors at play. Without a breakdown by age within that group itself it is hard to say but for example if the majority of those cases are closer to 40 than 49 then it could be school related. Younger people in that 40-49 age group are more likely to have children at school who won't be vaxxed yet so are more exposed. And people in that age group that have school aged children might be more likely to get the vaccine (for fear of catching it off them) than ones that either don't have kids or have kids that are past school age. This is conjecture from me and there might be clearer explanations.

As I say, I'm a little drunk so sorry if this doesn't make sense but the good thing in this report is that it shows how much better it is to be vaxxed than not.

I think the stats are saying out of 100,000 people 1900 people got it in total *of which* roughly 1300 were vaccinated and 690 weren’t (rather than 1300 out of 100,000 vaccinated people got it and 690 out of 100,000 unvaccinated people got it).

At least that’s how I’d interpret things from the charts underneath.

There’s a much bigger proportion of people that have been vaccinated in those age groups.

The vaccination rate in that age group is about 75%. So 1300 out of 75000 vaccinated got it (about 1.7%) and 690 out of 25000 unvaccinated (about 2.8%).

(It makes sense as you get younger and the vaccination rate drops, the numbers reverse ie there are much fewer vaccination people to begin with so they contribute a lot less).

Differences between how many go to get tested or who have previous exposure (and therefore some immunity) might also be factors perhaps?

Still interesting and is different from what being seeing in the US where from the data I’ve seen all categories (cases, hospitalization and deaths) are per capita higher in unvaccinated.

Also there is this qualifier ** Interpretation of the case rates in vaccinated and unvaccinated population is particularly susceptible to changes in denominators and should be interpreted with extra caution.
