Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

What a bunch of tosspots.

I think it's important mentally that people are able to get out of the house and get some exercise, but for gods sake lets be sensible about it. Those pictures are absolutely ridiculous. Once you see all those cars parked you need to just carry on driving until you find somewhere more isolated.

It's clear that there are some people still not taking this seriously enough. They need to be force fed scenes coming in from North Italy's hospitals until the reality of this illness sinks in.

The good news is that a lot of people have taken sensible measures - self-isolating if they feel ill or are at risk, reducing social contact, establishing support networks and not behaving like fools; this is probably enough of the population to prevent a lot of social disorder from taking place.

The bad news is that all the people who don't think this is serious will only realise that it is when they wake up one morning and find that they / a family member has it, and that the NHS really is under massive pressure. Then they'll panic, and demand their thing be taken seriously.
Plenty of people walking round the shop shaking their heads looking surprised.
Taking photos of empty shelves.

I swear some people just get their news from the Daily Star.

I think the government had a plan then it got overturned. Perhaps by events or lessons learnt, and I agree that cities will go into lockdown, but without ever knowing if the original plan as presented by the CMO and CSA would have worked....
It’s their job to make those decisions and change them based on scientific analysis and recommendations.

looks like the original plan was seriously flawed and promoted by that bellend Cummings.

thank fook that common sense prevailed. However we are still trending the same as Italy. So in 14 days time we will be looking at daily death rates of 7-800 per day and that is real scary.

One way I suppose to self isolate.

I wonder what she does for a day job lol

Sunday Times article today.

TBF that is a massive whitewash of an article; Cummings both the man who favoured the herd immunity policy / old people dying and the man who banished it from our midst. Johnson never liked the idea of herd immunity apparently. A government determined to do its best to protect the country even though they admit there that they considered 100000 deaths acceptable, and with time to prepare even though nowhere does it says that they actually did. Rishi Sunak not one of the people who only spends 15 minutes on a problem, spending a whole 30-40 minutes on it instead. Noone is to blame.

For every minute that people are out frolicking as if it’s a bank holiday, there will be more infections, more strain on the NHS and more deaths
The end result of Brexit Britain.

No need to even remotely notice an expert, rational advice, nor concern for self-harming decisions.

The crazies now in Government allowed idiocy to become the norm, so it’s quite karmic to see them now trying to attach them back on the leash.

Looking like Cummings is going to be thrown under the bus for 'herd immunity'. Not a bad thing. However, always a fallacy that Johnson surrounds himself with the best.

Still doesn’t excuse Cummings from being an utter horror.

That Peter Hitchens article in the mail is dreadful. Starts with a personal anecdote about a doctor getting something wrong, using that to cast doubt on the reliability of experts. Then cites a letter in the Times from a ‘leading vet’.

This sentence alone, is enough to lash the paper in the bin.

Like a child, I laughed at the vets name.
Sake.

It doesn't, but that rubbish has a good go at trying to. In what other world would a British government accepting 100000 British deaths as a consequence of its policy pass without any comment?
