Fwiw the reintroduction of a mask mandate in early August seems to have been pretty successful here (although probably some behavioral factors too)
San Francisco, despite being the most vaccinated city in the US, was having a quite significant surge in cases that was getting close to winter highs but that seems to be improving thankfully

Looking at the report 1 per million children with covid end up in ICU. Obviously the heart issues are a major concern. USA and Israel made the decision very quickly.
Further studies need to be done on the heart damage in children.
In the meantime lets focus on vaccinating the 30% or so of UK adults who have not been vaccinated and the third doses for 70+ year olds.

If you look at rates of transmission in Florida and Louisiana, they’re probably the highest in the world . . . There is a screaming level of transmission across the southern states right now. And now we’re starting to see this happening among younger age groups.”5
Cases of covid-19 among children are rising in southern states such as Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas. Adult vaccination rates are low in these states, and the delta variant is causing nearly all new cases. Fauci called it “an epidemic of the unvaccinated.”
Children’s hospitals throughout the south reported that many children had been infected by an unvaccinated adult in their household, and several hospitals said that they had been at bed capacity for weeks.6 The Dallas-Fort Worth area, which has about 300 paediatric intensive care beds, was reported to be out of such beds for children.7

How can one area in the USA be running out of 300 ICU beds for kids when the UK only has 1 per million in ICU? Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

Under 50s, with two doses = 37 / 62,403 = 0.059%
Under 50s, unvaccinated = 99 / 212,989 = 0.046%
Over 50s, with two doses = 1054 / 51,420 = 2.04%
Over 50s, unvaccinated = 437 / 6724 = 6.49%
One thing that stood out to me, which I'm hoping someone can shed some light on, is why there is around an 8x more cases in the vaccinated over 50s? For the Under 50s group there are more cases in the unvaccinated which makes sense and what I assumed would be the same for the over 50s

Because most of the population in that age group are vaccinated, so there's a greater numerical data set.
