JCVI doesn't recommend vaccines for 12 to 15 year olds. Which is completely fair enough.

Anti-vaxxers, this is what evidence-led science and due dilligence looks like, you bunch of tossers.

I have seen far more people who are in favour of vaccination complaining about this than anti vaxxers.

The fact is there’s a lot of people who think that whatever the UK does is automatically the wrong decision- we had this exact same thing when we opted to push our second doses further back. Especially people who are so terrified that they are desperate for boosters and anyone to get jabbed- including children.

Really, the JCVI should have laid out their arguments as they have but potentially allowed for parents to make the decision. Ministers will probably push for something of this nature.

There's idiots of every persuasion, but only one group are actively killing people with their stupidity, so my ire is saved for them.

How can one area in the USA be running out of 300 ICU beds for kids when the UK only has 1 per million in ICU? Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

I doubt the ICU beds are all filled up with COVID, like the UK been a lot of RSV and US schools tend to go back earlier.

But given there are less vaccinated parents there will be more virus circulating and kids will have a greater exposure level/chance. Demographics will also presumably play a part - Hispanic and African American kids seem disproportionally affected with MIS-C

My parents are in OK.
The town (49K) my mom is in has 10-15 people in the ER waiting on rooms.
Mayor called in the reserves and they are putting up hospital tents.

It is a college town and the first football game is this weekend. Stadium holds 60K.

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 121 deaths were announced today, down 57 on yesterday and up 21 on last Friday. The 7 day rolling average rises to an even 114
