Pretty certain this isn't actually real

EDIT: actually turns out it is, its for home quarantine apparently Oh wow. What happening in Austraila is NSW and VIC are currently in lockdown, the vaccine rollout has been an absolute shambles, however once vaccination rates get to 80% then the drive is to open the borders, including international. This is likely to happen in NSW and VIC in November. The remaining states WA,SA,NT and QLD are lagging in their vaccination rates, generally its because they haven't had the severe lockdowns NSW and VIC have had. What will be interesting will be the reaction to when NSW and VIC open their borders to each other and international when the other states can't because their vaccination rates aren't high enough

You are right but it was being played out that it was more from a track and trace perspective.

Mad that you think they’ll limit it to just that and it won’t eventually be the requirement for everyone to have the app.

Could happen like but you could argue that for any covid tracker app.

I don't know it just seems like a decent alternative to the hotel quarantine. If the UK said to me when you get back from holiday you have to stay in the house and wear a tag rather than stay in the hotel I'd prefer that. The hotel quarintine costs are ridiculous.

For better or worse, this is what I’m inclined to believe too. Things have gotten so bad here in the Southern US over the past 4-6 weeks, yet most state governments are not only not reimposing restrictions, many are actively outlawing mitigation techniques. From everything I read, the UK is in a considerably better place vaccination-wise than we are. Of course, at the rate Delta is burning through the South, we may not be too far off everyone here either being dead, vaccinated, or having some form of post-infection immunity.
