Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

From personal experience it seems to be going down. A few weeks ago I knew a decent about people with it and now I don't know any.

Things seem to be heading in the right direction. The antibodies from the vaccines and the sheer amount of people who have had COViD seem to be helping, I guess

Delta burns fast doesn't it. I think it swept through and is now ebbing off. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few weeks we have another spike that lasts a week or two.

I actually think this is what we're going to see.

Which is why people getting vaccinated is so important and also why the government are trying to introduce those measures ahead of the winter. It's better than the alternative, even though it's far from ideal.

I think it's actually evidence that COVID is becoming more like a 'normal' bug in how it acts. I.e. it goes around in the space of a few weeks and then hits a natural wall of immunity or, in this case, helped by the vaccines. This is the aim of the game now - getting it to act that way rather than just building and building up until lockdown is the only option.

Cases back up again - No idea what's going on
Wouldn't read in to that just yet. Case numbers have mini spikes when looking at a daily level due to days of peak reporting. See Scotland's recent decline:

Plenty of peaks within the downward gradient. Fingers crossed the UK wide one continues on the same pattern. Also is possible for cases to start rising again around now though since it's 10 days since the big opening up

Hospital figures - 75 deaths were announced today, up 5 on yesterday and up 15 on last Thursday. 47 deaths were in English hospitals, down 7 on yesterday and the exact same total as last week. The 7 day rolling average rises to 59.86

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 85 deaths were announced today, down 42 on yesterday and up 1 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 76.43

For the 60 day cut off, 90 deaths were announced today, down 51 on yesterday and up 1 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 82.57

Weekly rolling averages surely the things to look at. Yes it's good or bad news when cases rise and fall but as long as the trend is downwards, that's the aim

So now I'm allowed back out, I went on what was a steady off road ride.

The wind made it harder, but bloody hell I'm goosed, like properly goosed. My heart rate wasn't particularly higher, it's just how much I fatigued.

Will look to build up steadily again but it really has got me a bit down. Sure it'll pass.

My power was still decent even though I was trying not to focus on it and it was just nice to be out again. Will take it all very easy for the next week or so.
I'm due out tomorrow. Gonna play a bit of golf, I've been really tired though. Zero energy. Physical symptoms in terms of pain/aches and coughing have been minimal. You?

Absolute cesspit. Blow it up.
I set up a couple of WUM accounts on there a while ago. I had a kopite one called 'Magical European Nights 6 Times'. It couldn't be more obvious, yet loads of reds and blues bit. Some of my posts even made it on to here, which was nice. It was way more prolific than my blag Everton account. I had a lot of fun but ultimately Twitter was so depressing I had to delete them. It is a lens in to some of the most depressing and nasty parts of society.
