Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Since I won’t be looking in this thread anymore and don’t want my mental health fùcked around with and just want to get on with life and plan my next holidays etc, all while the MSM force-feed me the words and phrases “staycation”, “Margate”, “Feed the U.K. economy”, “Ice cream with fake instead of tapas” and “busy summer” (there’s even clothes adverts with the phrase “staycation ready”)……. I used the time not posting or reading this to find a way on my iPhone to block any website I want to avoid such as BBC News with their rolling updates, Sky News and Twitter what with all those “threads” and graphs.

If anyone else is interested you go to Settings-> Screen Time-> Content and Privacy Restrictions-> Content Restrictions-> Web Content-> Limit Adult Websites and then enter the links of websites you want to restrict below.

Once this is done, any website you try to visit, it will come up as restricted. I used to keep looking at the BBC Website hoping for good news, but it’s constant doom and gloom while they flash up “BREAKING NEWS” and keep getting us stats and doommongering scientists theories. I sometimes went on there by mistake and temptation got in the way. We just need to keep away from the news right now.

This isn’t a go at any of you, you’re more then welcome to post away, it’s just that it’s been 16 months and not fun at all and don’t want my other half to have another lockdown birthday, the last one really got her down as she turned 30.

See you all in the other threads, apart from Dave, who’s enjoyment of all this hasn’t helped.

It doesn't automatically disable all adult websites does it?
Some of them have offered comfort and relief.

Stoicism is something that is very much missing in UK, unless this virus aided and abetted by government has killed someone you care for not much to worry about apart from helping others.

TBF Stoicism itself is a degenerate form of philosophy - what this country urgently needs is a healthy dose of Epicureanism.

Yep, we’re five million, not great at all and the exponential trend is very poor. We were always getting stung given our proximity/border and common travel area with the U.K.

Spain and Portugal deteriorating to, Europe in for a late summer wave.
Might be best to get through this latest wave during the summer

34% of adults in Merseyside haven’t had any form of COVID vaccine, and unsurprisingly we have one of the highest Covid rates.
Just been for a covid test ,my son tested positive. The place was so busy this is flying around everywhere again, I've had 2 jabs and will have to isolate wether I'm positive or not. Bloody weather out there as well, barsteward!

Good rant with useful information.

I don't agree at all, but at least I understand where your side of the fence is coming from better now.

I shared Bill Hicks' bit about the news with @RAFUH the other day because it sounded like she needed to hear it. Worth looking up for a laugh.

I read a lot less of it now that I'm not trying to make strategic decisions for a business, which means that I don't really have to know what's going on out there at the moment. I can bypass the 'fnords', which is another reference you should look up if you feel that way about the news.

From Monday you wouldn't have to isolate since you've had two jabs

Ah crap sorry, that's from 16th August - ludicrously

My advice would just be to be sensible. I'm sorry, nobody double jabbed who is showing no symptoms/testing negative should be having to isolate. Tbh, nobody should be full stop (as long as they aren't positive).

Contact tracing needs to stop, it's causing far too much disruption.
