Very interesting. Social media's refusal to police itself has enabled a dozen people to become mass murderers.

If the federal government had the political will, it could solve that. It could lock up Zuckerberg and Dorsey and the rest for aiding and abetting. This end-runs the First Amendment under Holmes' "Fire" doctrine.

What a world.

Seriously tho I'm getting worried these vaccines aren't nailing this it's bloody spreading like wildfire ,just thought with at least half of us here having 2 jabs spread would be nullified. Doesn't look like, and it's open all hours Monday wow I'm now a bit worried .
There's still roughly 30% of the population who've not had a jab and just over 50% who've not had both, so there's still a lot of capacity for the virus to spread.

Additionally, you can still contract the virus after vaccination although the chances of hospitalisation and/or death are significantly reduced with the vaccine.

The hospitals are still going to face a difficult few months, but ultimately the government have decided to accept that in favour of fully restarting the economy.

I think what we'll see in the new few weeks or months is a lot of people contracting the virus, but hopefully it will become far more manageable.

My eldest has booked to go to Spain in a few weeks, and I've openly said to her that she may not know if she can go until the very last minute due to rates.

If she does go, there's also the chance of quarantining which may impact on her return to school for A-Levels etc.; all-in-all, it's not an ideal situation.

I'm supposed to be going to Spain in three weeks. Their numbers are far higher than France's.

If numbers here and Spain come down I will go (double jabbed). I don't think they have the quarantine hotel capacity to put Spain, Greece and France on the red list.

For me, the airport is the biggest risk. Hiring a car and have private apartments rented. Less of a risk than getting a train into town once I'm there.

Still put the odds at 50/50.
Genuine question. Then why are you going away? We've decided that we can last another year without going abroad as it's complete chaos still..

We are still weighing it up. At times I think just cancel and others I think it will be fine.
Once we land we have hired a car and go to an apartment away from everyone. Outdoor dining everywhere and we are on quiet stretches of beach.
Aside from the airport it's a lot lower risk than being here (unless we hold up like hermits).
Both worked throughout in fairly high risk settings and both double jabbed.

Also hoping to get our boy swimming more confidently. Our local baths is only open for two slots a week (each for 2 hours). For the first hour he is in school. He has had lessons but they have been badly disrupted.

To be honest. I'm desperate to get away..

It's an absolute minefield. Aside from the risks to self and helping bring back a new variety of covid, the rules can change any second. Just because the UK categorises a country as safe, it doesn't mean they'll adopt similar measures. Or the status quo changes between booking and departure / return.

I’ve booked Lisbon for new year. I was hoping because Portugal was recently on the green list there’s a good chance it’ll be okay in 5 months.
For your sake, I hope you're correct because people are deserving of a break from this cycle and to enjoy some form of relaxation. The tourist sector needs it too.

Nevertheless, five months is a long time away and a lot can happen between now and then - positive and negative - at either end of the chain.

Yeh it was £200 flights and they’re insured to move if not possible so here’s hoping. My biggest issue with booking one was that I didn’t want to go away to a country where I still had to mask up, SD, all that because that’s just not a holiday.

We've done Majorca in October a few times. Around 24c it's nice. Still on the beaches etc. It's end of the season and some places are closed but it's still decent!

Hoping to get out to a place called Moraira in Spain in October time. My family has a villa out there so we use that. It's lovely weather that time of year and is great for cycling - it's where a lot of the teams train in the autumn/spring. I'll be double jabbed by then too so hoping it's doable.
