Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Biggest number since the start of April though

I dont doubt that, but from the early days, and since the vaccines were announced, the medics have said Covid wont go away, and that no vaccines are 100%. Its all about the NHS.

Data on the ages and vax status of the deaths/hospitalisations would be interesting.

Sommet like 1350 other folk died today. None from Covid.

I always average the sat-mon figures.. the spikes disappear then.

It really pissed me off early on when the news used the Tuesday 'spike' figure to Doom the world!! I hate the news sensationalising everything..

Its the total lack of context that gets me. Like, the headline in my local news site was 170% increase in cases. The context is that 3 classrooms got a spread, and now all self isolating. The actual numbers were about 30 positive tests.

27 isn't a big number. We are at an extremely low base. Even if it rises to 50 a day I still think we should fully open.

There have been nothing reported about cases following the test events; cricket, footie, gigs etc. Nothing.

Wembley having 60000 in for the Euro semis and final as well.

All the evidence points towards the vaccines working extremely well. I'd try to incentivise vaccination to the older nonvaccinated now to minimise these deaths.

There’s been some very strong suggestions that Hancock hid the fact, that following these events there was no spike, in order to delay the lifting of the current restrictions too.

In somewhere like Cornwall a rise of 170% would equate to four people lol

There are not really many restrictions now are there? Well, there are, but they aint like Lockdown #1. Its obvious that the delay to a full reopen is to jab the young'uns.

Get them done soon as, then off we go. Leaving the NHS vax teams to have a breather before the inevitable booster for whoever they reckon need it later in the year.
