I honestly don't understand how it's not spreading more over there, packed nightclubs, stadiums, no masks, serious amount of vaccine hesitancy. Anyone any ideas why? Have they just built up a ton of immunity?
All the things LL mentioned, plus I think the fact that we just have more social distance inherent to our daily lives here than a lot of other places, especially the UK and Europe. Aside from a few big cities, most of us live in our own houses, drive our own cars, never use public transit, etc. Even with all the restrictions, I’m surprised things didn’t get much worse in the UK considering how densely populated as it is.

Watching programme in bbc2 re vaccine.

Emotional watching the CEO call the lady at Moderna to give her the results of the trials on her vaccine she created.

Amazing
Was there some warning or something at the end about the vaccines from the scientists?

I am guessing far more people have actually had this virus than have been officially counted. That combined with people who are vaccinated gives us a lot of immunity.

Other than the immunocompromised and kids who are not eligible for a vaccine yet, I won’t feel sorry for anyone in the US who is unvaxxed and gets COVID now. You’ve had plenty of opportunities to protect yourself. It’s gone from being a community issue to a personal issue.

I'm just hoping the government are being cautious and things are not getting worse.

It's a bit of both. Things are getting worse in terms of hospitalisations in certain areas - areas that happen to have had struggles with the vaccine uptake and where this 'delta variant' seems more common.

We're starting from a very low base and the people in general who are ending up in hospital aren't ending up in ICU wards (obviously there is exceptions).
