So, yes, some impact, I just think that short of a proper lockdown the situation we're in now will see an exponential increase in case rates regardless of whether we 'open up' on 21 June or not.

Yeah but maybe if they put the 21st June back a bit SOME people might have a rethink regarding their current taking the utter piss.

You’d know the UK phases better than me but isn’t there also rollback of things like wfh/indoor masking and pubs indoors opening up? Iirc those were the key things the models are including as leading to increase in tramsission over current rates rather then the big events.

Not that I'm aware of no, just no further 'opening up'.

If there was a rollback I'd be of the contrary opinion as that would clearly have an impact.

I don't think it adds much fuel to the fire, not enough to make a substantial difference. I didn't say it'd make no difference, I said the return isn't worth the economic damage. People will refine their ideas based on infection/death figures at this point, not on what the government say, again making a delay to 21 June nearly pointless.

Then there's the impersonal factor i mentioned earlier...i don't wanna live in a society where everyone is wearing masks. It's depressing.

My missus is a Tissue Viability Nurse and since the start of the pandemic part of her working day, is treating the damage done to the facial area of fellow health care professionals, caused by long term mask wearing.

To a man and woman, no one who works in a hospital wants to wear a mask outside of surgical procedures and close contact exams etc, they hate them with a passion.

Well as I say, personally I think it would be stupid, so I fully expect Boris and his Butchers to do nothing.

A delay leading to more of single dose over 40s/50 getting fully jabbed would hopefully make a significant dent in the hospitalization figures. Seen some indication that there might have been a bit of a hitch on speeding those up that a delay might be useful for.

The public by and large behaved and followed the rules, because there was a " fear factor ", that`s totally gone now.

A lot of people ( as you know ) just aren`t arsed anymore, the papers call it " Lockdown Fatigue ".

They can`t even scare people with the figures anymore, as people are just bored with it all and have got back on with their lives.

I think we should proceed with caution for the next few weeks, because as this Indian variant makes its way through the UK and Europe we're inevitably going to see spikes, but it's worth stressing that the vast majority of people who are at risk of becoming seriously ill and dying of covid are fully vaccinated and have been for some time.
