After all the chaos and economic damage this has caused, why wouldn’t a state want to have a defence against it / be able to weaponise something like this?

I think Covid itself is probably a natural virus but I reckon they have messed around with it in the lab and made alterations to it and its managed to escape.

Dont think its intended to have got out but the fact if they weren't messing around with it in the first place we wouldn't be in this mess.

I always thought it was too coincidental that some new coronavirus pops up in the same city that has a large Coronavirus studying laboratory.

What I don't get is why are scientists dicking around with these things in labs? The US/China will have their fingers jointly in this make no mistake.

If the world government's dont stand up and put an end to this its only a matter of time before the next one finds its way out and wreaks havoc on the world.
Totally agree. We all know they are working out how to weaponize these viruses, but they will say they are working on combatting them, counteracting them, blah blah , blah more bulldoody.

They're all crooks and the world is heading for disaster with these billionaires running it.

However, (along the conspiracy line) I do think that the world population is out of control and it needs desperately curtailing. But how we do that, I don't know.

The global population is slowly flatlining, especially in the developed world, where the replacement rate hasn't been kept up for many years. It's a problem that is storing up a whole bunch of issues.

Don't agree with the last paragraph. The world doesn't need culled at all, a myth perpetuated by billionaires for some bizarre reason. We need to be more sustainable and treat the earth right. A bulk of achieving that sustainability falls onto the laps of the billionaires. Convient to blame us though isn't it? Regarding a cull, they don't even need to kill anyone off as Bruce's post above shows, if you reduce birth rates the population reduces naturally and very fast, within decades.

Some would suggest though, that those people that we want to breed aren't the ones that are breeding...

lol

In terms of the Western World I think a lot of families cant afford too many kids due to mad childcare fees on top of other factors in general.

In my experience by and large its the scratter types who have 4+ kids all with different fellas lol

The more space we take on the earth the more we will inevitably come into contact with viruses.

It's an interesting situation from a policymaking perspective, as population stagnation is likely to lead to lower growth, as in Japan, which keeps inflation very low, which in turn makes borrowing cheaper, which boosts asset prices (such as houses) for those who can afford them, which means younger people work harder to get on the ladder and thus delay/stop having children due to affordability issues, and the whole cycle gets worse.

That scene is so bloody accurate, aiaiai.

i know a handful of women in their 30's-to-40's, educated professionals. Some I had liaisons with before settling myself, i still chat to them and they're genuinely happy for me (becoming a dad etc), really lovely sentiment, but they wistfully admit their time is slowly running out, but are so set in their ways, and have become so choosy, that they don't know how to get out of the rut. They date men, some i met and seemed like good stable blokes, but then they'd dump them for spurious reasons like "didn't like some of his opinions", "boring hobbies" and the like.

None of us are perfect, luv lol

Big Pharma has a lot of blood on its hands when it comes to AIDS/HIV as do Al Gore, Bill Clinton and George Bush. There are a lot of parallels with the current covid vaccine situation.

These drugs can be made cheaply and help the World. But Pharma stands in the way.

Ronald Reagan and his entire administration must be glad people are starting to forget their initial response to it.

She doesn't seem to mention the vaccines though, which are surely a pretty big difference between this summer and last summer? That's especially so if travel is restricted to those who have been vaccinated, which is seemingly likely.
You’d hope so given that vaccines appear to halve transmission rates.
In addition to the direct effects of preventing cases and reducing severity, we have shown that both the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 and BNT162b2 vaccines are associated with reduced likelihood of household transmission by 40-50% from individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 after vaccination, highlighting important wider benefits to close contacts. While this analysis was primarily intended to understand impacts on transmission to household contacts rather than those outside the household, the former are consistently identified as being at high risk for secondary infection.
