How many tests per day last year though? I'm sure testing has increased by at least x5.

Don’t know about the U.K. testing to be honest, you lads will no more.

We had 45 daily cases this date last year, wild type, no vaccines and we were pretty strong on testing per capita. Today we had 519, with over 55% of the population 1 dose vaccinated and over 25% fully. Shows the impact of the variants. Over 1000% increase comparatively and thats with vaccines and still under significant restrictions.

Just had a quick look 4th June last year was 99,000ish tests. 4th June this year 806,000. 8x the quantity of tests.

5th June last year about 1100 positives. 5th June this year 6238. Relatively similar considering roughly 8x the testing is being competed.

No one is behaving like they're under restrictions any more. It's a free for all now...

I dont think thats the smoking gun myself mate, it doesn't matter how many tests you do unless you are testing the entire population its open to interpretation, i actually prefer % of positive swabs as a metric to check how much may be in the community but thats not without its flaws either.. It seems the trend overall in certainly Europe that ive looked at, its hardly breaking news the change of impact from wild to variant, but its quite amazing comparatively, thats the broad point i was making, just a bit of a personal wow moment really as i was going through some data.

Positive % must be fairly similar based on them numbers over the two years. Its roughly about 1000 positives per 100,000 tests.
