Strongly disagree with this.

The UK testing for variants, the resulting detailed analysis and open publishing of results has been unparalleled and has been hugely valuable worldwide.

The base data is very unclear, full of different factors that skew results (surge testing, family housing dynamics, imported cases/community spread, changing rules such masks in schools) and extremely fast moving. They are effectively trying to do a jigsaw in the dark on a moving train so it understable they cannot immediately give an answer all wrapped up in a tidy bow which is how the public usually get to see scientific results.

Will they generally lean on the cautious side, yes probably but I’d assume you would too if you were in their position - lives are after all involved and that must be quite an emotional burden to carry.

It's all nonsense, the idea that we are in the evil grip of a group of highly dedicated and experienced individuals because they are made up with some sort of youtuber fame and now want to prolong the very thing they have spent their lives trying to prevent.

The nonsense about masks and only 6 to a table being used as social conditioning to no one's benefit other than some supposed power that comes from a main stream media invented fear that sounds about as real as the force in star wars.

Of course the cherry on the cake is the standard ignorant theft of Orwells good name. Would recommend reading the post in dave rubins voice for full effect.

As you know I have no medical training but to quote form the article someone who does

Cases definitely rising now. Hopefully it won’t matter in regards to deaths but I suspect SAGE will push the government hard now on delaying June 21st

At the peak in January, roughly 1 in 36 cases was resulting in a death. The figures you've just posted put that figure at 1 in 567 cases resulting in death. Even in the summer when we had practically no deaths, the death rate was around 1 in 70 cases. The situation now is literally chalk and cheese.

I’m not posting from the perspective of “this is what I want to or think should happen”. Far from it. But there is no doubt in my mind the pressure from the media and SAGE (and the independent SAGE doomers who get an awful lot of TV and radio airtime) will “grow exponentially” over the next two weeks. There are also large amounts of the general public who quite simply (we can swear here can’t we?) [Poor language removed] themselves over case numbers. All in all it’s a recipe for growing hysteria and like I said I can see June 21st being pushed back.

You're quite probably right. Everyone who has historically been vulnerable to severe complications from the virus will have been vaccinated (bar those few who refuse it), so that would explain the very low death rate we're seeing not just here, but throughout Europe (there are around 350 deaths per day for the entire EU at the moment, with its 450 million people). You've almost got more chance of winning the lottery than dying from Covid, but we better be safe...
