Sad thing is, we all know that deep down, even if Cummings is telling the truth, that absolutely nothing will be done about any of this.
The amount of cronyism, back patting and jobs for the old boys is out of control under this government (just look at today’s Hillsborough news)
At the very most, Hancock will be made the sacrificial goat, that’ll steal the headlines and the next day we’ll get the “it’s time for healing, so we all need to move on from this” blurb and the Tories will go up another 3 points in the polls.
It’s so utterly soul crushingly predictable that I’m struggling to even care any more...
Set against a glorious forest of pristine Union flags and with solemn and battle weary face, our inspirational leader will no doubt trounce his treacherous accusers asunder. Now is not the time to be seeking to criticise individuals, who have acted steadfastly in our nation's best interests, throughout our battle with this evil virus. A virus that threatened to destroy our unique British way of life, like no other foe in our history. We have all been through too much together in our fight, to be drawn into petty squabbling now. Together we will win and we will learn, but I say to you all now, that the virus will also learn. It will surely learn that it will not and cannot possibly win, when confronted by the collective, unshakeable resolve of the Great British public. That same Great British public who know only too well, that there are some amongst us, who are extremely knowledgeable with the benefit of hindsight. We pay no heed to their carping voices (insert obscure Latin phrase, something, something, magnificent victory by the people, for the people, heroes all). We the British government will instead maintain our unflinching focus, as we have done since the start, on winning this battle, protecting the NHS, safeguarding the vulnerable in our society and in so doing, return our country to prosperity. Yes, first question, Laura ?
