Sod that. Gotta climb a hill to get to the motorway.

Has you missus sorted the break in the return journey? If not, take a peek at the delights of Portishead. 5 mins off J 19.
No. Wanted to leave ourselves a bit flexible.

Monmouth was another favourite stopover of ours but we're always looking for somewhere new. It's by the mouth of the Avon isn't it. I've always thought it to be a bit docky/industrial around there. Am I wrong?

Completely wrong! Its a lovely town.

Sake, Allison has scored for the RS.

edit. Couldnt believe what I heard just now, oh well.

Back on topic, ish. Portishead is 5 mins off the motorway, has some fantastic restaurants and a delightful marina development that you can spend ages at. The hotels are a bit basic, Premier, that sort of thing. If you are in no great rush to get back to Cornwall, book a couple of nights. I guarantee you will enjoy the place.

Premier is more than fine for us. Might give it a look see. Cheers for the heads up.

What have you just heard. I'm not watching the match but was following it on our world football thread, so already knew Allison had scored in the 5th minute of 4 minutes injury time.

Tbh, that’s just moaning for the sake of it. The U.K. is doing ok and Boris is doing ok. Discussing this at the pub today, everyone was of the same opinion, mistakes were made because no one knew any better, but the big decisions have been spot on...which is why the U.K. is doing ok.....

No Pete.

Massive mistakes were made that cost 0000s of people their lives.

The UK didnt do ok, we did horrifically bad.

Vaccines saved the day, otherwise things would be still very bad.

3 lockdowns, all done weeks, sometimes months too late.

We didnt do ok.

The way to think of this is ‘what would you have done at the time’ ...no hindsight, no being smart after the event. Vaccines have saved the day, and it was Boris who pushed , funded and ordered the vaccines outside of the EU procurement, and took a load of abuse for doing so. The same list could be written for every government around the world, but the thing that really counted, the vaccines, was spot on, and we are all benefitting as a result. I spoke to loads of people today, who are really pleased with the way the U.K. has approached this.....

Dave and I, amongst others were calling for lockdowns way before the first wave hit and the 2nd and the 3rd.

But Boris would rather "the bodies piled up".

I mean it comes as no surprise that the people in your little Tory hamlet thought Boris did a good job............

Yeah.

Just as any virus is, the common flu etc.

I'm not throwing anyone to the wolves. And by the way, the sensationalist reporting on this is probably accounting for a lot of ill health too, especially amongst the vulnerable.

There's a fine line to be trodden between informing and panicking people. That's not been found in the media.

Our little Tory hamlet, is a mixture of a wide range of people. Our economy is what keeps people alive, it pays for the NHS, the PPE, the vaccinations and everything else we need. It’s a balance and always will be. theres no doubt Boris screwed up right at the beginning in trying to keep the economy going. But no one really knew what would happen. Boris didn’t, the scientists didn’t , it was best guess. Not one politician put their heads above the parapet. I’ve asked the question many times before as to which politician you would rather have been in charge of all of this, and everyone ducked giving an answer, because they all know that no one would have done any better.....
