Looking at the travel situation and it really doesn't make much sense tbh. We're in a position whereby millions have been vaccinated, yet even if you have been vaccinated the restrictions are chalk and cheese compared to last summer, when no one had been vaccinated at all.

Case numbers seem to be thankfully turning the corner in both India and Nepal
On Sunday, Nepal reported 7,368 new cases with a slight decline in test positivity rate, which at 37% with 19,883 tests is still much higher than neighbouring India. Kathmandu Valley saw an additional 2,609 coronavirus cases.

Nevertheless, this is the fifth day in a row the country started registering a downward trend in the total number of infections. Although most experts say the numbers are an underestimation. Most of Nepal is under some form of prohibitory orders.

Which makes the CDC saying if you are fully vaccinated you don't have to wear masks a tad premature and a bit stupid. You know full well those that are against it and those holding out will claim they have it. Who's going to stop and ask them?

My kids school they have a zero tolerance on masks when picking the wee ones up and dropping them off etc... already there are parents ignoring it.

No hospital figures for today again as they have stopped reporting at weekends

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 4 deaths were announced today, down 3 on yesterday and up 2 on last Sunday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 10.57

For the 60 day cut off, 6 deaths were announced today, down 9 on yesterday and up 1 on last Sunday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 23.71

I think (and hope) that the Indian variant is not too much to worry about.

We saw an increase in daily cases last week (up to about 2600) and the last two days have been closer to 2000. These are relatively small numbers considering our population and the number of tests being carried out. A few hundred imported cases can dramatically impact the data.

They seem to be pretty confident in the vaccine.

I think the media are delighted to sensationalise and I think that the government are actually keen to let them in this case. We are getting to the younger age groups who are more likely to be vaccine hesitant. This latest variant might boost take up in the younger age groups.
