13 deaths less at this point of the week than this same stage last week. Hopefully we will end the week on another new lowest total since October, with that being the moment the Kent Variant came along.

I only count total deaths at the end of each week, then compare them with previous weeks. That way delays in reporting are not so much of a hindrance.

We had 160 at the end of last week and I think that will be 140-150 on Sunday.

The 7 day rate for cases has been going down sharply, we are on course to reduce the 7 day average to below 2,000. Even with 1.3 million tests, it’s looking really good. The reduction in deaths follow soon later.

Current cases now drops by just over 1,500 to that of 76,397.

I read that Sardinia has given about 480k of vaccines, but they give them about 3 weeks apart so say about 250-260K people inoculated. With a population of 1.6 Million that’s just 15-16% covered, so this probably helps explain a part of the problem.....
Another example of an island not using that advantage to keep cases down, with us being the other one.

It would likely help but as @TaffyToffee85 mentioned better control/testing of people coming to the island would have been a simpler approach whilst waiting for the full vaccine rollout - the one dose strategy wouldn't really impact much in the three weeks timeline that cases have escalated.

Assume that given a lot of local income is from tourism that there was reluctance to implement/continue restrictions but bit short term thinking when a lockdown because of virus growth gets you the same lack of tourist income but with the added issues of full hospitals.

Had my first shot of AZ today at around 11:40. Very efficient process, in and out in a few mins. Just had to wait around for 15 mins after because I was driving.

No pain in my arm or anything and no side effects yet. I reckon I had Covid early last year before testing really started, not sure if that will effect potential reactions.

You shouldn’t have had to wait 15 mins with AZ, it’s normally for the Pfizer.....I think....

He’s one of them murderers...
...you have the brass neck to question the use of the word murderer about that gang in power?

"Let the bodies pile high in their thousands".

Johnson and his gang are corporate fascists. You dont get a better example of that ideology than that.

A murderer, plain and simple. No laughing that off.
