Massive shame that.

Cancelled because of a load of head the balls.

Would’ve been great for the industry as well as it’s on its knees at the moment.
The anti lockdown protests are even more ridiculous now.
We know so much more about covid, have a timeline for opening up (which looks like it's on track) and so much proof that the vaccines are working.

As for covid passports, I think if you don't want to have a vaccine or take tests then that is your choice and you shouldn't be forced. It is also the choice of private businesses to insist that you do if you want to use them.

If you are a tin foil anti vaxxer then I have to respect your right to that decision in a free society. But to refuse to take a simple test to show you are not a risk to people's lives iss the height of selfishness and entitlement. Bunch of bellwhiffs.

Hospital figures - 14 deaths were announced today, down 8 on yesterday and down 2 on last Sunday. 6 deaths were in English hospitals, down 14 on yesterday and down 3 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 21.86

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 11 deaths were announced today, down 21 on yesterday and up 1 on last Sunday. The 7 day rolling average rises very slightly to 22.57

For the 60 day cut off, 12 deaths were announced today, down 55 on yesterday and down 8 on last Sunday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 49.43

There is a non covid bug doing the rounds in Liverpool. My nephew got checked in Alder Hey, sore throat swollen glands, general aches and the like.
If people are keeping distanced and wearing a mask, then it's hard to imagine how this bug is "doing the rounds".
Could it be related to the easing of lockdown rules in England.
Has it been identified and classified yet.

They did a throat swab and tested for Strep throat but aren't getting the results until Wednesday, but I assume that the schools will have been the primary driver for any nasties doing the rounds at the moment.

It’s in the schools mate, both of my lads have had it. The school tests all the kids ttwice a week for the virus and it ain’t the virus.

Just one of those kids bugs that’s doing the rounds.

1712 new infections yesterday, the lowest in nearly 8 months.

The rate has dipped below 2000 a couple of times previously but never stayed there consistently. All schools are back next week though, but I'm not sure if they are still carrying out twice weekly testing. The Gov said they would be doing so up until Easter at least so not sure what is happening. Hopefully they will be doing as they were catching over a 1000 asymptomatic cases some days.

The ONS weekly survey sample also shows infection rates continuing to fall with 1 in 610 people having the virus week ending 16 April.

It's about now that we should start seeing any reaction to the latest opening up of the economy earlier this month.

Pretty sure the schools went back last week. They did down/up here.

COVID: EU 'confident' of herd immunity by summer

The European Commission says its coronavirus vaccine drive is now on course to secure 70% inoculation of the EU's adult population by mid-July.

The European Union's vaccine task force chief on Sunday said the bloc would be able to produce enough vaccines to achieve herd immunity of the EU's adult population by the middle of July.

"We are confident that we will be able to produce a sufficient number of vaccines to achieve the goal of collective immunity, which means that 70% of the adult population would have been vaccinated by mid-July," European Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton said.

The commissioner made the comments in an interview with the Greek weekly newspaper To Vima.

Enough doses to meet target

Breton wrote on Twitter that the bloc "will have the doses needed to fulfill the EU Vaccines Task Force target."

Poor @davek

His battle looks lost.

Went out last night for the first time since before Christmas for a pint and some food

Was nice to be a part of a crowd again. Weird, but nice. Wasn’t like that before Christmas, was much busier this time around. Much much busier.

Now, was town perfect? Absolutely not. Plenty of folks still without masks, not distancing, but also Gave you the feeling that we’re getting somewhere finally
