Still, if 5.3 million is the vaccination stats, with that added onto those who had Covid and recovered to create immunity, then that’s more than enough to achieve the goal.

As others have pointed out on here its aiming for 68-70% for enough of the population to supress the virus & enough of the nation to have the right amount of antibodies to "manageable levels" equalling herd immunity.

I'm not an expert on Israel by any means but I'm sure I have read that the ultra Orthodox all live in specific areas and tend to be quite anti vaccine? Surely if a significant number of people in 1 area aren't vaccinated thats a bit risky?

I see J&J are now upsetting the EU suggesting there may be delays to production. Apparently the EU are now looking to ditch both AZ and J&J when they can and rely on Pfizer and Moderna. They will be able to sell that to their people as they’ve already been softened up with the attacks upon AZ and now the USA have put a pause on J&J so the EU will assume the moral high ground, while obviously covering their backs. Apparently Denmark is saying it won’t use AZ, unless it gets hit by a third wave...just another usual day in the EU....

I'm not an expert on Israel by any means but I'm sure I have read that the ultra Orthodox all live in specific areas and tend to be quite anti vaccine? Surely if a significant number of people in 1 area aren't vaccinated thats a bit risky?

you would think but with the Eu who knows....so far they have authorised 4 vaccines, now decided to cease 2 of them while some individual countries are sourcing SputnikV and Sinovac....

For all the handwringing here in the US about whether the FDA made the right decision to pause JNJ rollout or not it is shows like this that are going to impact uptake far more.


And I would bet a substantial amount of money that Carlson himself has had a vaccine.

AZ has suffered a catastrophic loss of confidence around the world. The US wont touch it; European countries are severely limiting its use.

I said a while back that this looks like the type of vaccine that would be used in non-first world countries eventually. It's cheap and it's mobile. And the results are good but open to a lot of scrutiny that just cant survive the glare of publicity in the first world.

We in the UK will still see it rolled out pretty much without limit because of the political capital invested in it.
