Indeed, exporting vaccine manufacturing capability is the big issue and it should be put in every country. The days of the EU or anyone else threatening supplies needs to be buried once and for all....

EU states have exported over 40m vaccines - including around 10m to the UK.

A vaccine for a respiratory virus, rolled out in the spring?.....

How long does it last nobody knows but come October and we’re in another seasonal countdown trying to vaccinate an entire population in 2 months.

It’s the vulnerable that need it.

The people that matter will have a good idea how long the vaccine lasts as they will still be monitoring volunteers from the original clinical trials.

They have also said boosters tweaked to combat variants are possible by autumn.

I wouldn't worry about the scientists. It's the politicians and the public who are the danger.

So left home ,8 years ago to move to Toronto, Ontario. Hate Boris but what a job UK have done with the vaccines, amazing stuff, here in Toronto we have a 48 percent uptake in over 70s in vaccines and are in deep trouble. Stay safe, everyone. Almost there

Yep, production from existing sites is going up with working 24/7, there are already new sites coming on track and they also hope to have the new Oxford facility up and running this year although it may not contribute that much this year. VDL has probably done us all a favour by threatening to do exactly what the US and UK are doing, as out anti-trade, dog-eat-dog approach is forcing us to double its efforts to get vaccine manufacturers up and running in the U.K.......

EU still cannot do anything wrong in your eyes eh Bruce, having totally screwed up their own purchase of vaccines, then banning the export to the U.K. of products developed within the U.K., manufactured in a facility paid for by the U.K. and producing product owned by the U.K. It’s opened up a lot of people’s eyes but not yours apparently. I’m not quite sure what else, apart from bombing London, they would have to do before you finally admit that the EU is an arrogant, petty, vindictive and incompetent body......

The Governments primary interest should be protecting its own citizens, same goes for the EU and their member states.

There’s no “hoarding”, all available doses are being used to save the lives of British people. The reality is if those doses were split among all of the European states the impact on the virus would be negligible in every country as it would cover less than 10% of the total population, this isn’t a case of we have hundreds of millions of doses just sat in a warehouse while Boris sits in a big chair stroking his white cat.
