Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I don't think we will Toff. The rate of infection outside is nowhere near as bad as inside. I'm not too worked up about people meeting outside per se, it's the ones that leave their mess and rubbish lying around I'm more bothered by. It's disgraceful really and shows a total lack of consideration for others.

I'm not worked up about it really (them meeting), I just can't see how we can have scenes genuinely akin to festivals and not think that there'll be a rise in cases.

But a rise in cases doesn't necessarily mean a rise in hospitalisations.

I know they were outside and most seemed to be adhering to rule of 6 and stuff, and I don't blame anybody for doing it. I just also know that 1000s of people in a park is still gonna probably result in a spike. I don't think we can fully compare last summer in terms of cases because we weren't testing as much then.

But, like I said, I'm hoping that it won't equate to a rise in hospitalisations.

There was no spike after all the scare stories of packed beaches and BLM marches etc.

On one Summers day last year, Bournemouth had an influx of half a mil people, leading the police to declare an emergency, yet no spike.

So why should it be any different this time ?

I know mate, but that's why I stressed about the testing. We're testing a lot more now than we were - for example, that place I do 2 days work a week are introducing mandatory weekly testing (you can sign up for it). Last summer that amount of testing wasn't in place. We were testing, what, 700,000 people a day at one point last month?

I just think we'll see a spike inside the next 2 weeks. It's also what Whitty and Valance have warned too, that there's gonna be a spike whenever things open up. But, there's clearly a level of acceptance around that and I imagine they have a certain threshold based on hospitalisations.

Again, I don't blame people for doing what they did yesterday or today cause it was bloody lovely and it's got to happen at some point. I just would be very pleasantly surprised if we don't see a rise in cases. But even if that is the case, hopefully the vaccine roll out keeps any hopsitalisations very low.

I do blame them tbh too many have no impulse control whatsoever.

I just want to get back to normal whereas there are idiots who cant see past tomorrow.

Tbf though the majority didn't do anything wrong (bar the idiots leaving places like a tip)?

If they met up in a group of six in a park, then it's perfectly legal. Issue obviously becomes loads and loads of people did just that in what is still a very small, congregated space. But, not everybody is lucky enough to have a garden or something so again I can't really pick fault with them.

Like, I avoided anywhere busy like that yesterday and then today, but I can get out on my bike and make the most of the weather that way, and then sit in my garden. Not everyone can do that.

Hospital figures - 49 deaths were announced today, up 9 on yesterday and down 32 on last Wednesday. 31 deaths were in English hospitals, down 9 on yesterday and down 38 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 49.71

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 43 deaths were announced today, down 12 on yesterday and down 55 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 47.29

For the 60 day cut off, 124 deaths were announced today, up 12 on yesterday and down 85 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 112.71

Couldn't think of anything worse than meeting up with 5 mates in a kin park lol

Yates or the casino fair enough but couldn't be arsed risking our soon to be freedom sitting on the grass picking daisies.

Told the lads I'll see them on the 21st June and not a day before.

Sadly its the UK they will be fuming at.

Some 44 per cent of people in intensive care with the virus are under the age of 65, he adds.

Yep, as usual we get the blame...the British variant...Astra Zeneca...anything apart from his own actions. I feel sorry for the French people because many will believe this idiot and still refuse the AZ vaccine because of his previous actions and words.....

The German suspension of AZ is a sovereign decision.

Nothing to do with the EU or whatever regulator says or does not say

.
raw
I didnt mention the Germans mate.

I just pointed out the European Medical governing body say there is no evidence to restrict the AZ vaccine. , quite simple really . Or are they not qualified to make that opinion ?

Yeah I mean the thing for me probably would be just to leave it a bit or just have people round to the garden, because I'm generally pretty sensible like that.

Went on a ride with my mate today but I've been doing that for the last few months anyway, so no change, just got the tan back! (those festivals won't know what's hit them)
