We could have a 100% effective vaccine and the idiot would still be advocating caution because some people wouldn't have it.
He knows what he's doing. He's covering his own arse. He knows, as we all do, that people will continue to die from COVID, and he's being a coward by not acknowledging the balance between that and society functioning.
It's deeply cynical what he's doing IMO.
CMO though, that’s his job really frank advice on Public Health, I’m not sure he’s being overly cautious either, I mean the U.K. are what a quarter in to their full vaccination programme, in that context there still is a vulnerability to and if there was a surge.
Seems to me, the narrative on a third wave seems to overarching over the last week by many in and connected to the U.K. Government.

Florida should not be look at as an example of success, at least not yet.

Cases in Florida, a national Covid bellwether, are rising — especially among younger people.
The state’s open invitation to enjoy spring break is a contributing factor. Another may be the exponential increase of infections of the more contagious B.1.1.7 variant.

Daily infections plateauing out at 5,000 in the UK. The murderer and Whitty practically confirming there will be a third wave shortly here. But restrictions are being lifted.

Th only way lifting restrictions made sense was when the whole population had received a vacccine. That way the possiblity of variants taking hold and probably neutralising the vaccines would be minimized.
Of course, that wouldn't do for the Tory Death Cult. They want the economy open for the whole of Q2 and Q3 in order to do their corporate master's bidding.
Expect mega death here in the autumn/winter.
Until this country gets the message that the old normal is gone there will continue to be catastrophe after catastrophe.
IMO there is a very good case for a coup in order to save the hundreds of thousands who will lose their lives as a result of these Tory fanatics carrying out a holocaust.

I dont wish to be 1 of them.
But the majority of deaths have occurred within the groups that have already been vaccinated.
We cant control variants, they are mutating as we speak in Brazil, France, Germany, The US, Kent, they will happen and quite frankly there's nothing we can do about them.
You say THEY want the economy open, I think I speak for us all when I say WE want the economy open, there's no reason to keep it closed, we have vaccinated the most at risk, its time we remembered what life is about, why we all sacrificed our lives for the last 12 months.
And good luck with your coup, I reckon you could find about 10 people who don't think we should open everything back up, maybe hire a 15 seater mini bus to play it safe, I know a fella who can get you a few shooters, cheap as chips, good luck Dave.

If there is a small surge, people will get severe disease and die. If there is a big wave, there will be a “significant impact”.
How can anyone read that from Whitty tonight and expect the vaccines to be "doing the heavy lifting" against this virus, I dont know.
The vaccines were always just an aid in the fight against the virus, never the panacea. We were sold a pup on that in the winter to chummie us along.
As said: behavioural changes + real world class track and trace is the only way forward. SUPPRESS the virus. Get investment into therapeutics.
